Storyline:
Cassandra, the young woman SG:1 rescued in Season One (Singularity) after her race was wiped out by the Goa'uld Nerrti, begins to have attacks of uncontrollable telekinesis, and her health deteriorates rapidly. This prompts the SG-1 team to travel back to her home world, to try and find something that can help her and a reaction in her adoptive mother Janet meaning she will do anything to protect her child.
Shippy moments: (Can we say "Told you so"?)
One general comment about this amazing episode of Stargate is that the character Janet Fraiser had a major role, something we have had yet to see in previous seasons. Teryl Rothery truly got to shine in this episode, and shine she did playing her role with so much passion and emotion that it often had me in tears. Scenes between Janet and Cass were truly poignant and both actresses deserve a lot of credit for their portrayl of the mother and daughter duo who both suffered significantly in this episode. It was great to see how Janet balanced both motherhood and her job and great to see the relationship shared between the two characters as well as Sam who also played a major role and the writers deserve a lot of credit also for such a well written episode.
Now for the most exciting part, we didn't really have to project this time, there was indeed shippage between our two fave characters. We had a long lingering glance and a hand hold. Now Daniel isn't usually the kinda character to physically comfort characters particularly one like Janet who we rarely see him interact with unless he is her patient. In this episode however they have a sweet scene together where after discussing Cassie's condition and Janet goes to leave Daniel takes her hand and in his own sweet way tells Janet that he's there for her because he know's she's going through a lot. Then we get a lingering look between the pair before Janet walks off leaving Danny swinging his arm and moving his head as if to signify that he wishes he had been able to comfort her more or make it all better, though at that time there was no way that could be possible. Was this significant? I think so. Considering that both characters ultimately seemed comfortable touching, and being around each other I really do believe...or at least hope that this was a hint at a lot more to come between these two.
Overall this is a great episode and a must see. Good acting is displayed by every single person involved and *that* scene has to be my favourite of all time.
