Under The Influence

RATING: PG-13 (suggestive, but not extremely descriptive situations)
SPOILERS: Through current season
SUMMARY: A parasite infects Daniel and the results are not quite what Janet was expecting.
DISCLAIMER: Not mine, never will be.
AUTHOR'S NOTES: This was inspired by an episode of another of my favorite shows and I built it on the premise there. Hopefully, this works and makes sense.

There was an old saying about opening the bag and letting the cat out, or something along those lines. Daniel Jackson wondered, today, if there wasn't a good bit of truth to that saying. The observations were made as he stood staring at an intricately carved and decorated ornament jar sitting on the workbench in front of him.

SG-7 had brought the jar back from P4Z-693 yesterday and ever since, he'd been immersed in trying to translate the writings on it. SG-1 was on downtime, Teal'c visiting Ry'ac, Jack off doing who knew what and Sam visiting with Jacob, so he was free to study to his heart's content.

So far, however, he wasn't having much luck, considering the writings were in a language he'd never seen before and was finding harder than usual to reference. The challenge, however, was fascinating to him and he was determined to solve this puzzle.

But along the way, he was battling his curiosity to just open the jar and see what exactly was inside.

The desire was hindered by another look at the heavy seal around the edge, a clear sign that whatever was inside was not to be let out. Daniel knew this, not just from past experience with jars like this (he cringed at the memory of Isis and Osiris) but from pure, undiluted common sense that his best friend Jack O'Neill was wont to say he did not possess at times.

Still, the urge was nearly unbearable.

As a rule, he'd thought it necessary to not open the jar until the writings were deciphered, in case there really was a reason for the tight seal. But after a day of trying to understand even one symbol, and failing, he was seriously debating whether or not he should just pry the thing open and take his
chances.

"You know, if you stare at that thing much longer it might get up and walk away."

Daniel turned at the soft voice in the doorway, smiling sheepishly at Janet Fraiser as the SGC's Chief Medical Officer regarded him with a wry smile.

"Maybe it will sprout a voice too and tell me what dialect the writing is in, and what's inside."

Janet smiled at his frustration, understanding all too well. Biting her lip, she stepped into his office, trying not to notice that the scent of his cologne seemed to permeate the crowded room. Ignoring the shiver that ran down her spine, and fighting the urge to inhale deeply, she walked over to the desk and ran her fingertip along the intricate carvings on the base of the jar.

Daniel swallowed hard as he watched, unconsciously wondering what that finger would feel like skimming across his cheekbone. The way she was worrying her lip, concentrating on the jar, made him suddenly long for a taste of her full lips. He could feel the blush rising to his cheeks and he quickly pushed the all too familiar longings he'd developed for the doctor down, knowing now was not the time to act on them.

"You want to open it, don't you?"

Janet knew she'd hit the heart of the matter as his eyes lit up. It scared her sometimes how well she could read this man. It made her wonder if she'd be able to read his emotions so clearly if she were wrapped in his arms, lost in the desire she felt every time she was in his presence. Her blush, thankfully, went unnoticed as Daniel quickly launched into one of his long-winded, if endearing, speeches.

"I know there's probably a good reason that jar is sealed, but I don't know a thing about that language and it'll probably take me months to translate it at all-"

He knew he sounded desperate but he didn't care. Fervor for his task had taken over and he unconsciously moved closer as he gestured, getting wrapped up in his warring emotions about what to do over the sealed container.

Janet decided to put him out of his misery. Not that he didn't look adorable when he was all 'crusading' or 'perplexed' Daniel, but it really was too distracting for her peace of mind.

"Come on, bring your jar and we'll run it through the imaging X-Ray machine in Sam's lab." The huge smile that lit up his face made her smile in return.

"You know how to run that thing?"

Daniel hated to admit that he had no clue about the machine, after all, it should be pretty simple. The thing was, he'd never had to use it himself. Only Sam had and so far, and he was embarrassed to admit, he'd never thought about learning how, since she always did the work for them.

"Yes. Sam showed me how to use it during the whole Isis/Osiris debacle." She gave him a sympathetic smile as he winced, knowing the words brought up memories best left forgotten. Besides, the less ever said about Sarah, the better.

She didn't like the jealousy that ate her alive at the thought of the pretty blonde that had once been involved with Daniel. Although that blonde was probably long gone, or well subservient to Osiris. She hated the fact she found a perverse satisfaction in that knowledge, though she'd never admit it to anyone. But should the situation arise, despite everything, she would do her best to save the person and kill the Gou'ald.

"Well, let's do it!"

Bounding up and down like a puppy, he grabbed the jar and to her surprise, her hand, and pulled her from his office and into the hallway. For a moment, she wondered if he'd drop her hand, considering there were several amused faces watching them from various points along the hallway. Something inside her warmed as he didn't let go, but instead, pulled her with him.

Daniel, for his part, was fully aware he hadn't let go of Janet's hand. He was marveling over the fact that she hadn't pulled away, especially after the strange looks they'd gotten from the two Staff Sergeants they'd just passed. It was with a reluctant heart that he finally released her as they arrived at Sam's lab.

Janet tried to ignore the sense of loss as he let go of her hand, focusing instead on the mission at hand. Working together, they managed to get the machine up and running and the jar positioned just so. With a few flicks and presses, Janet soon had the image of the jar projected on the computer screen.

"There we go, I just hit this button here, and voila! The inside of your mysterious jar!"

Daniel peered at the screen, noting something at the bottom of it. "Janet, what's that?"

Janet moved to take a closer look, forcing her heart to calm as her shoulder brushed his as she leaned in to see around him. Frowning, she made a few adjustments to the controls, successfully enlarging the picture to full screen size.

"I don't know Daniel, but it looks, to me, like the carcass of something. Not a symbiote, it's too small, but some kind of worm, maybe a parasite? And it looks like there might be two of them?"

Daniel was trying to focus on the screen instead of the woman beside him, so he almost missed the inherent question in her words. When it finally registered, he yanked himself back to the present and tried to think up a reply.

"You're sure whatever they are, they're dead?"

Janet bit her lip again, punching a few more buttons. "There's no evidence to suggest life. No electromagnetic pulse, no heartbeat, no breathing."

Feeling more curious than ever, Daniel looked at her with what he knew many called his puppy dog eyes. "So, you think we can open it?"

Janet bit back a laugh, expecting that question. Normally she would say no, but right now, it seemed harmless, not to mention the opening could be done in containment. Still, she had to fight the feeling that something wasn't quite right.

"I suppose so, but we should be careful and take all the necessary precautions. The sensors detect nothing strange in the air around whatever this is and as long as we're cautious, I don't see what harm we could do by opening it."

To her surprise, she suddenly felt Daniel's arms wrap around her waist, giving her a quick squeeze that left her breathless in more ways than one.

Daniel, for his part, gloried in the feel, however brief, of her body pressed against his. Suddenly realzing he might have held her a bit to long, he returned her to the floor. "Let's get geared up, come on!"

Laughing at his enthusiasm, she followed, hoping they were doing the right thing. She was so immersed in the man in front of her, she didn't notice the slight blip on the computer screen behind her, nor see one of the mysterious 'worms' suddenly wiggle.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Careful Daniel, just in case we unleash the fires of hell or something."

Daniel smiled through the protective mask he wore. "Been there, done that, nothing to worry about." He loved the fact that his words made her laugh, easing, he knew, the same nerves he was feeling. Wondering if this were the right thing to do. Sealed jars were usually sealed for a purpose.

"Okay, here goes nothing."

Settling his hands inside the rubber gloves fashioned into the machine, he placed a small knife against the seal. Seconds later the soft pop of the seal breaking filled the room with a hissing sound.

"Okay, so far, so good." Janet was again fighting her nerves as she watched Daniel carefully remove the lid, then use a pair of foreceps to lift one of the creatures from where it resided. "Looks dead to me."

Daniel bit his lip at the words, wondering what type of creature this thing was. It looked like a mutated worm, but was unsettling enough to make him shiver.

"Have you ever seen a creature like this? It's got some characteristics of a worm, but there's something strange about it-"

"I don't know, but I want to run full diagnostic and medical tests on it. At least we can find out if it's another form of alien creature, and being that there's two, possibly a gender. Although it doesn't look that dangerous."

"Famous last words."

Janet laughed at his wry statement as she removed her hands from her gloves and walked over to adjust a few more knobs on the machine.

Daniel smiled as he watched her work, feeling his heart begin to pound as she suddenly looked up and smiled back. She really was too pretty for her own good, not to mention his piece of mind.

"So, what now?"

Janet sighed, again checking the machine for any readings of life.

"Well, I say you put that thing back in its container and bring it to the science lab. We'll get the boys to work on it and see what they can come up with."

Daniel nodded, carefully replacing the creature in its prison, closing the lid lightly. The seal, having been broken, would not hold tightly, but he wasn't worried since the creature, and its companion appeared to be lifeless.

"I just want to stop by my lab on the way, take a few more pictures of the inscriptions, that way I can work on the translations while this-thing-is being examined."

"I'll meet you in the lab in about 10 minutes then?"

Smiling, he nodded and grabbed the jar, trying not to let his gaze linger on the strand of hair that had fallen from her neat bun and now curled enticingly at the base of her neck. He could only imagine how soft her hair would feel, against the even softer skin of her neck-

"Daniel, everything okay?"

He jumped, knowing he was blushing as he dragged his gaze from hers. "I'm fine, I'll, um, meet you in the lab in ten." With that, he almost ran from the room, needing a little space to get his raging hormones under control.

Janet, for her part, watched him go with an amused expression. She'd kept quiet for a while before breaking his concentration, especially since he seemed focused on her neck. A blush rose to her cheeks now as she imagined what he might have been thinking.

/Stop it! He's your friend. That's it! Now get back to work/

Sighing, she tried to calm her hormones as she put Sam's lab back in order and then headed for the science lab.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Daniel smiled as he snapped a final picture of the jar. The markings really were exquisite and he was fascinated by what looked to be two dragons, red and blue, necks wrapped around each other but teeth bared. It was a strange sight, friends, yet enemies, he almost thought it might imply.

/You're getting tired, Danny boy. Time to let the scientists take over and dissect your little friends inside/

Sighing, he walked back over to the desk to set the camera on top of a pile of books near the edge. To his horror, the whole pile seemed to teeter, before beginning a rapid descent to the floor. Literally grabbing for the jar, he managed to pull it out of the way of the cavalcade of books, but in the process, knocked the loosely placed lid off.

Cursing, he held the jar tightly as he tried to steady his breathing,
thankful nothing appeared to be broken. Setting the jar carefully on the now clear area of his desk, he squatted down to reach under his chair where the lid had fallen.

He cursed again as he suddenly felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck, slapping his hand over the spot. A few seconds later however, the pain was gone.

The Daniel Jackson that rose from the floor would have seemed normal to anyone who passed, but inside, the archaeologist was flooded with intense feelings and emotions, dark swirling thoughts that were now whispering things into his ear.

Most of which were probably illegal in all 50 states and Canada, and many of which had to do with the beautiful CMO of the SGC.

A very un-Daniel-like glint in his eyes, he reached for the jar, absently noting there was only one creature now inside. He frowned, something in his brain alerting him that this was wrong, there should have been two, and if he showed up with the jar and only one creature, suspicions might be aroused. He wasn't sure why he knew that would be a bad thing, he just did.

But seconds later, the worry faded before he could get a good grasp on it. Making a split second decision, he reached into his drawer for a sandwich baggie and placed the remaining creature inside. Twisting the top closed, he smiled evilly as he headed off to the science lab, his mind already plotting ways to act out what the voice in his head was whispering in his ear.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Janet was talking to one of the chief scientists at the SGC when Daniel strode into the room. Her breathing quickened as she noted his stride seemed more confident, his shoulders held a little straighter.

"Daniel, you made it, I was getting worried."

"No need to worry, Janet. I had some problems with my camera so I decided to keep the jar and bring one of its occupants here for dissection."

Janet bit her lip, about to say something about the possible danger, but found her breathing cut off by the intense look he aimed her way as he almost carelessly dropped the bag on the counter next to another scientist in the room.

Turning back to Roger, she smiled and finished explaining what she and Daniel had discovered, unconsciously leaning closer as Roger asked her a question in his soft, unassuming voice. She nearly gasped in fright as she felt a pair of strong hands close around her waist and pull her back. Turning, she found herself looking into a pair of stormy blue eyes.

"Daniel? Are you okay?"

She watched as the eyes suddenly cleared, and the hands on her waist loosened, but did not leave. A strange little shiver went down her spine and to her surprise she found it was not altogether one of fear.

"I'm fine, but I think we should leave the scientists to their work." Without waiting for a reply, not even offering Roger a chance to ask the question so obviously on his mind, he pulled her with him towards the door.

Janet was seriously concerned about Daniel now, especially after the look she'd caught in his eyes. Making a mental note to get him down to the infirmary for a check-up, she figured at the moment, it would be best to go along with him.

"Thanks guys, we'll check in with you later!"

She had to call the good-bye back over her shoulder, since Daniel seemed intent on getting her away from the lab.

"Daniel, slow down, what's your hurry?"

To her surprise, he did stop, although his hand remained clasped tightly in hers.

Daniel, for his part, wasn't sure what had prompted him to almost manhandle Janet from the lab, but he knew he hadn't liked the way Janet was leaning so close to the other man. It sent the hair on the back of his neck standing up and filled his body with an almost primitive anger that, at the time, hadn't scared him.

Something nudged at the back of his mind at the thought, and he realized he needed to talk to Janet about it, but the idea was quickly overcome by the little voice that suddenly reappeared in his head. He had a lot more interesting things he could be doing with Janet than talking about his strange mood swings.

"No hurry, Janet. I'm just feeling a little stir crazy after so many hours looking at that jar." Seeing her expression relax, he realized he was on the right track. It wouldn't do to make her wonder if something was wrong. That would only lead to infirmary tests, although, his mind was already working on ways to make his 'checkups' a little more- interesting.

"I understand, I've done nothing but treat injured SGC personnel for the past three days, everyone seems to be making up for the fact that SG-1 is on downtime."

Janet felt her heart clench at the soft, seductive laugh that came from his throat, as he pulled her into his office. There was something, different about him, and while it worried her a little, it also intrigued her to no end. Not to mention the fact that she was finding herself a little turned on by this more dominant personality.

"So, what's say we get out of here for a while? Dinner?"

Janet hoped she didn't look as shocked as she felt. Had Daniel Jackson, the nightly star of her fantasies for months, just asked her out on a date?

"It's not a hard question, Janet."

She swallowed at the teasing tone of his voice, trying to find an answer that wouldn't sound overeager and pathetic.

"I'd love to go get dinner, O'Malley's?"

His smile sent a bolt of desire zinging down her spine. There was something in his eyes, his smile, his whole demeanor, that told her this night might be more interesting than she'd thought. It should have rung warning bells in her mind, but for some reason, she decided not to heed them.

"Let me just gather a few things and change and we're out of here."

"I'll do the same. Meet you at the elevator in ten?" With an eager smile for his nod, she almost skipped from his office, still trying to believe that she was going out to dinner with Daniel. And from the look in his eyes, it might not be a purely 'just friends' type dinner.

Which meant she had very little time to change. Thanking Sam for her prodding to keep one non-regulation outfit on base, she smiled happily as she headed for her office.

Daniel felt an intense desire sweep over him as he watched her leave, his mind already imagining what exactly she might be changing into. The images immediately changed to ones of him stripping her of said outfit and doing outrageously pleasing things to her body.

Jack O'Neill would have been shocked to see the lust filled smile that appeared on his best friend's usually calm and collected face.

Closing down his computer, he headed for his quarters, thankful that he always kept several changes of clothing on base for any situation. He had a feeling it would be denim and leather tonight.

Whistling under his breath, he allowed himself to feel an intense satisfaction at having accomplished the first task his inner personality had set- get Janet to agree to dinner, off base.

By the end of the meal, he was determined she would realize that he intended for her to be dessert.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Janet knew she must have entered the Twilight Zone. There was no other explanation for her current situation. How else could she have ended up seated across from an absolutely gorgeous Doctor of Archaeology, who was, make no mistake about it, flirting outrageously with her.

Not that she was complaining.

He looked delectable tonight, having changed into tight fitting jeans, a dark blue shirt that brought out the blue of his eyes, with a brown leather jacket adding the final, delicious touch. He looked good enough to make her mouth water and a whole different kind of hunger was slowly eating away at her.

Daniel smiled as he watched Janet's eyes sparkle as she laughed as he related one of his more comical experiences on a dig before discovering the SGC and the Stargate. To his surprise, his baser instincts had taken a backseat to his real desire to get to know her and he wasn't complaining. Which had surprised him when he'd caught his first glimpse of her at the elevator a few hours ago.

His mouth had watered as she approached, having changed into a short, dark skirt and a clingy red sweater top. Small heels gave her an added boost of height, bringing her to just about his shoulder. Her hair fell in loose waves around her face, which had his fingers just itching to bury themselves in it. He'd realized in that instant that he was a goner- and not just because of her sexual appeal to him. To his inner surprise, he found the desire to get to know her better taking root and the gentleman inside had stepped forward.

Not that he wasn't doing his best to subtly seduce her, but if it meant learning more about this woman who'd fascinated him for months now, then who was he to complain? Not to mention it was nice to have someone to talk about things with that were not necessarily work or hockey related. Not that he didn't enjoy his nights with Jack during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but hockey really wasn't his thing.

Tonight, however, they'd spent the past two hours exchanging stories and exploits from their younger days and even a few added details he knew she never read in SG1's mission debriefings. The way her eyes twinkled seemed to hypnotize him, along with the sway of her hair as she moved her head animatedly while talking.

His body tightened as she leaned over to reach for a piece of bread, sitting in a basket between them, the move pulling her low cut sweater a little tighter across her chest. His mouth went dry as he caught a glimpse of the creamy skin hidden from his view when she straightened again.

Janet was trying not to go up in flames as she felt the heat of his gaze burning into her. Or more aptly, her chest. She'd been fully aware of what she'd revealed by leaning forward for the bread, and her blood pressure skyrocketed as she realized she'd been successful. The way he was looking at her made her blood boil and sent a warmth tingling through her body, gathering and settling into the tight bundle of nerves centered between her thighs.

To her surprise, she found she was enjoying this side of Daniel, although a small part of her mind kept tugging at her to realize that this was NOT typical behavior for the man she'd grown to respect and quite possibly, love, over the past few years. Still, she was enjoying the situation too much to question it at the moment, and she knew Daniel was too. For the moment, that was all that mattered.

"You're awfully quiet all of a sudden, care to tell me what's caught your interest, Janet?"

Daniel smiled as he saw the blush climb into her cheeks as her eyes fell from his for a moment and she took a sip of her water. His inner devil was delightedly wondering if she'd been engaging in some of the more naughty thoughts his mind had been illustrating to him for the past few hours. Probably not, although, if he had his way, she would be soon. Which was why her next words shocked and delighted him.

"Actually, how much 'better' I want to get to know the man sitting across from me."

Janet bit her lip, knowing she sounded entirely too forward, but the way his eyes sparked at her words made her glad she'd spoken them.

"The feeling is mutual, Doctor Fraiser." Watching the blush darken her cheeks again, he leaned forward, pleased that she did the same until their faces were only inches apart from each other, their eyes locked.Making sure her attention was focused on him, he subtly reached for her hand, feeling the electric tingle that shot through them both as their fingers interlocked.

"I've wanted to move past our 'doctor/patient' relationship for some time now, Janet."

Her breathing stopped at his whispered words and the intense desire he was deliberately allowing her to see in his beautiful blue eyes. Her voice was barely a whisper as she tried to form a reply.

"Just how far past it are you willing to go, Daniel?" She bit her lip at the look in his eyes, and the feel of his hand tightening on hers.

"Well into another galaxy, as long as you're with me."

She closed her eyes as his words washed over her, the sensuality behind them nearly her undoing. She'd always thought Daniel to be a sexy man, but tonight, this new side of him that she was seeing, was exceeding every one of her fantasies.

"Something to your liking, Doctor?"

The words were accompanied by a light brush of his lips across hers, so brief, she almost wasn't sure it had happened. But the triumphant look in his eyes as hers flew open told her it had. Licking her lips, she shivered at the taste of him, even from so brief a touch, his essence lingered.

Daniel's eyes grew heated as he watched her lick the taste of him from her mouth, feeling an intense desire to crush his lips to hers and truly plunder the wonder that was Janet Fraiser.

/All in good time, my boy. Patience and seduction. You've waited far too long for this to rush through it like an over eager teenager./

Taking a deep breath, he reluctantly pulled back, although he kept their fingers interlocked. Seeing the bemused look on her face nearly did him in and he had to struggle to heed his inner voice. He knew, if he could do this right, his patience would provide the only reward he could ever want. And if he were right, which he suspected he was, Janet would be pretty satisfied as well.

Janet struggled to bring her mind out of the Daniel filled gutter she'd entered at the feel of his lips on hers, basking in the heated gaze he kept on her, although he'd moved back to his side of the table. His thumb however kept circling her palm, where their fingers remained interlocked. She could only hope he didn't notice her heart rate had skyrocketed.

She wanted to whimper when he let go of her hand as their waiter arrived with two steaming plates of food. Trying to control her urges, she smiled and thanked the man, more glad than she could say when he'd left them alone again.

Daniel too was not liking the sudden feeling of emptiness at the loss of touch with Janet. Almost without thinking, he reached for her hand again and locked their fingers, thankful his numerous experiences with broken arms had made him quite proficient in eating with one hand.

Janet found she had no interest in the food she was eating, more concerned with the tingles shooting up her arm and down her spine as Daniel continued to run his thumb over her knuckles and the outer edges of her palm. She figured he was pretty adept at doing things one-handed from his numerous injuries, but it was a task she wasn't quite as good at. Which made even more sense as a reason why she was not really eating much.

"Not hungry, Janet?"

His words made her blush, although the answer she gave came without hesitation.

"Not for food."

Daniel had to fight the desire to pull her across the table and into his arms. There was no mistaking the desire in her eyes or her voice as she laced their fingers together. It was a sight he'd only dreamt about for months, imagined in the dark of night when he allowed his innermost thoughts and desires to reign free.

He still wasn't sure what had come over him, what had given him the courage to act out all those inner fantasies, but all he knew was that it felt good. Really good. Better than he'd felt in a long time, or at least, in the months since he'd admitted that he felt more for his doctor than just friendship. Seeing as it appeared obvious Janet felt something similar was only the icing on the cake.

For what might have been seconds or minutes, they stared into each other's eyes, food forgotten. It was the familiar soft melody playing in the background that brought Daniel back to the present. It also gave him a wonderfully wicked idea.

"Dance with me?" The words were husky and low, his eyes obviously not hiding the desire he felt for her. Her own orbs were dark with passion as she wordlessly took his offered hand. Pulling her with him to the dance floor, he immediately pulled her into his arms, pressing his body tightly against her. To his utter delight, his blood pressure skyrocketed as she pressed even closer.

Janet, for her part, knew that this was a bad idea. Such close contact to Daniel was not wise, especially not in a public place, at least not feeling as aroused as she was at the moment. But she was powerless to resist those eyes and that charming smile, tonight, holding a hint of wickedness. She didn't know where this new, more aggressive yet devastatingly attractive Daniel had come from, and a small warning bell was going off in the back of her mind, but for the time being, she chose to ignore it.

"You smell good." Daniel leaned down and buried his nose in the crook of her neck, feeling her shudder as his warm breath washed over the sensitive skin. It was a floral scent, but not a heavy one, lily or jasmine he thought, mixed with a scent that was pure Janet. It was intoxicating and he couldn't help but press his lips to her skin, needing to find out if she tasted as good as she smelled.

He wasn't disappointed by the taste of her skin or the whimper that emerged from deep in her throat at his actions. Smiling to himself, he tightened his arms around her waist and pulled their lower bodies into perfect alignment, allowing her to feel exactly how she affected him. He'd been looking for an excuse to do this all night and now, the slow, bluesy tune made the setting just perfect for a little close, sexy dancing.

Janet knew her heart was about to beat out of her chest as she felt Daniel's lips on her neck, his arousal pressing insistently against her thigh. She knew he was pleased with the small moan she couldn't hold back at his actions and couldn't help but whimper again as she felt him dip her slightly in time to the music, the motion pressing their bodies into an even more intimate position. Not that she was complaining. This was a Daniel she'd only dreamed about and she wasn't about to miss out on any opportunity.

Feeling daring herself, she allowed her thighs to part, feeling his leg slip between them as he dipped her far back over his arm, the move sliding her skirt nearly to her waist and straining the material that covered her chest. For an instant, they remained like that, eyes locked, bodies pressed intimately against each other.

Daniel knew if he didn't get them out of there this instant that he'd do something completely out of control. Like take her where she stood on the crowded dance floor. And while part of him he'd thought long buried delighted in the idea of making a public 'claiming' of her, a larger part knew that he would make sure that he would be the only man to see Janet wild with pleasure, writhing under him in his bed. The track his thoughts were headed down might surprise those that thought they knew him best, surprised him in a way, but not as much since he knew these possessive feelings had simply lain dormant since he'd lost Sha're.

"Want to get out of here?" He husked the words against her ear, allowing his tongue to brush over the lobe, feeling her shudder and hearing another small whimper emerge from the back of her throat.

"Your place or mine?" The words were daring, bold, and definitely not like her. She knew this was not wise, after all, this was their first date and they hadn't even discussed this attraction that seemed to be taking over them both. Something, despite feeling so right, was just a tiny bit off, almost as if there were something she should be remembering. However, the kisses he was brushing along her earlobe were fast weakening her to any thoughts but those involving the two of them and far less clothing.

"Mine's closer. Let's go." Not removing his hand from her waist, he leaned down and kissed her quick and hard on the lips, pleased to note she almost swooned in his arms. Keeping her close, he moved them through the crowd, stopping by their table to drop off money for their meals before leading them out the door.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Janet snuggled deeper into her pillow, feeling more relaxed than she had in months. Smiling at the warmth of the blanket around her, she burrowed her head a little deeper into the warmth. Her eyes flew open as she registered the fact that her warm pillow was rhythmically moving against her cheek.

Opening her eyes, she found herself greeted with the absolutely breathtaking sight of one Dr. Daniel Jackson asleep. Memories of the night before suddenly washed over her, along with the pieces of furniture in his apartment that she wouldn't be able to look at again without blushing.

She shivered as she felt the strong arms around her waist tighten, watching as he moved in his sleep, obviously determined not to let her go. Not that she was complaining. She'd dreamed about waking up in Daniel's arms for a long time now and reality was so much better than any fantasy she'd ever had.

Snuggling closer, she allowed her arms to wrap around his neck, stroking the short hairs at the back of his head. She liked his shorter hairstyle, but would admit a fondness for when he'd worn it just a little longer, a bit shaggier, somewhat like James Spader in some of his earlier movies. Smiling at the thought, she allowed her fingers to move lower, enjoying the warmth emitted by his skin.

Her smile turned into a frown as her fingertips brushed over what felt like a raised welt on his neck. Feeling a little more, it almost seemed to be a circular mark, somewhat like an insect bite or bump. Still, she knew darn well that it hadn't been there when she'd examined him yesterday after his complaint of a pending sore throat.

Feeling a sense of unease now, she shifted in his arms, trying to position her head to get a look at the mark, frowning when he simply shifted and rolled over, trapping her between the mattress and his body. She gasped as his eyes suddenly opened, filled with a heat and desire that quickened her heart despite her intent to find out what had happened to his neck.

Daniel, for his part, had been awake for a few moments, simply enjoying the feel of Janet's fingers on his skin. It was an incredible feeling, to wake in her arms, much better than the times he'd imagined it over the past months. She was warm and soft and more importantly, felt as if she belonged there. It was a feeling that surprised him a bit, since it was one he had not felt with Sha're. He'd loved his wife, but what he now felt for Janet was different. Nothing and no one would ever replace Sha're, but finally, he knew he was ready to move on, with the woman now pressed to tightly against his body.

"Good morning," he whispered, leaning down to place a kiss on her lips while his hands slid up her sides in soft stroking motions. She whimpered against his lips, her hips shifting against his and he smiled at her impatience.

Janet was struggling to remember that she needed to examine his neck, but found all thought lost as he nibbled along her collarbone while his desire pressed insistently against her thigh. She decided to worry about it later as he moved against her and she was once again lost in the sensations only he could arouse in her body and her heart.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Several hours, and bouts of lovemaking later, she finally found herself awake and in a position to examine her lover's neck. Daniel, truly exhausted by their activities, was sleeping soundly, stretched out on his stomach in a spread eagle pattern. It was rather amusing to note he was taking up most of his king size bed.

The amusement faded, however, as she leaned down from where she stood next to the bed to take a closer look at the back of his neck. She bit her lip as she noted what looked like a circular puncture wound in the center of his neck, the edges slightly puffy but not red, looking almost like something had burrowed into his body. Her doctor's instinct went into high alert as she leaned closer, fighting back the dread that it might be a symbiote entrance wound.

Brushing her fingers lightly over the mark, she felt him stir beneath her but he did not awake. Frowning, she took a quick measurement with her fingers of the shape and size of the mark, relieved to note it was not the size or style of a symbiote, it was far too small, but still, it had her worried.

She slipped back as she felt him shift again on the bed, rolling to his side, a catlike smile on his face, looking completely and totally sated, a look she'd never seen on him before, but one he wore very well. Not that she didn't feel a bit of pride knowing it was her that had put that look on his face. He might have been more aggressive than normal, but she had given as good as she'd gotten.

Still, the lustful thoughts quickly faded as she allowed the worry to creep back into her mind as she thought about what might have caused the mark on his neck. Her mind suddenly went back to the two creatures they'd discovered in the jar yesterday and a feeling of foreboding took over. Moving from the room, she headed directly for the phone she knew was in his kitchen, dialing quickly and asking to be connected to the SGC lab.

~*~*~*~*~

Ten minutes later found her sitting frustratedly at the kitchen table, none the wiser about what the scientists had found out. All she had learned from her call was that something had happened in the science lab and no one was talking until she got back on base.

She had an uneasy feeling it had to do with the worms. Not to mention the fact that Daniel had brought only one for experimentation, and come to think of it, he'd started acting more aggressive than usual right after that point. Wracking her mind for the events leading up to that moment, she realized, with horror, that Daniel had been alone, with the unsealed jar, for about five minutes.

It was a leap, but she was more certain than ever that if they searched the jar in Daniel's lab, they would find it empty. Which, making the next logical leap, meant that the second worm could possibly have been what burrowed into Daniel. An image from an old X-Files episode hit her mind and she shivered at the thought that something unknown might be affecting Daniel.

Her heart did a little somersault at the realization that his aggressive actions, their intense night of lovemaking, might not have been of his own free will. Her stomach rose to her throat as the thought took hold, the pain and nausea nearly unsettling as she realized that Daniel might not be happy this alien thing that could possibly be in his body had forced him into having sex with her.

/Come on, Jan. He wouldn't have asked if you were sure, he wouldn't have shown such passion if he weren't sure of it./

Still, the thought made her edgy enough to need to know. And the only way to do that would be to get a few X-rays of the man sleeping peacefully in the other room. The man who might not remain so peaceful if she tried to tell him about this, especially if something else was controlling his actions.
Pushing down the fear and hurt that she knew might arise from what she found out, she turned on her doctor mode, trying to figure out the best way to get Daniel back to the SGC and to submit to testing.

If she wiped away a few tears in the process, she was only glad there was no one to see them.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Daniel was smiling to himself as he followed Janet down the halls of the SGC. Sure it had been a kink in his plans to hear they were needed back on base, but that didn't mean they couldn't have a little fun while there. He had a few fantasies of his own involving the bed he so often ended up on in her infirmary.

He was still flying high on the fact that Janet had responded so passionately to him the night before and that he'd actually found the courage to make the first move. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt so happy and satisfied and if he had anything to say about it, it would not be the last.

His smile turned to a frown as he noted the SGC scientist, Roger he thought his name was, approach Janet and engage her in a soft conversation. Possessive instincts flared to life inside him as he observed how close the man leaned to Janet, and he was unaware that he'd moved before he did so.

Janet gasped as she felt Daniel's arms close around her waist, pulling her, none too gently, away from Roger. Feeling no fear, just a slight annoyance, she turned to say something, only to stop as she noted the pure rage that filled the archeologist's normally soft blue eyes. Something was definitely wrong.

"Um, Doctor Fraiser, maybe we should discuss this later-"

"Anything you have to say to her you can say in front of me," Daniel gritted the words out, struggling to control the need to punch the man in the face. He knew this was definitely not like himself, and was no doubt arousing Janet's suspicions, but he couldn't seem to control his emotions.

"Daniel, let's go." Janet made her voice firm, hiding her worry as she wrapped an arm around his waist and began to pull him away from the now worried looking scientist.

Daniel wanted to stay and pound some sense into the other man, but figured at the moment, it would be more prudent to let Janet take the lead. He knew he'd aroused her suspicions enough for the moment. Still, he'd deal with Roger later. He only wondered for a moment at the delight that thought gave him.

~*~*~*~*~

Janet knew she had to get Daniel to submit to X-rays, but she wasn't sure how to make him. Obviously, from his display earlier, he was acting more aggressive than normal and she didn't like to think what he might do if provoked. The worry was now more prevalent, especially since Roger had managed to whisper to her that something had happened with the worm. She needed to get to him and find out what, but obviously, without Daniel noticing. She didn't want to risk the possessive rage she'd seen earlier, although, she had to admit, a tiny part of her enjoyed the fact that he was acting so possessive of her.

"Doctor Jackson."

Daniel turned from his perusal of Janet at the sound of General Hammond's voice. Straightening up, he looked at the man and nodded.

"SG-7 has just returned from PX4-329 with a strange set of artifacts that they would like your opinion on."

Daniel felt a surge of annoyance at having to leave Janet, but a part of him was curious as to what the other SG team had brought back. Still, there was no sign of any other male in the vicinity of the infirmary, so he figured no one would try anything while he was gone. And he'd just make sure his perusal of the objects was quicker than normal.

"Of course, I take it the artifacts were brought to my lab?" At the nod he got in reply, he turned and walked over to Janet, his eyes heating as he noted how appealing her neck looked with her hair pinned up off of it. Resisting, barely, the urge to lean down and kiss the exposed skin, he instead settled for whispering in her ear.

"Don't get into any trouble until I get back!" Feeling daring, he allowed his lips to brush over her earlobe, feeling her shiver at the sensation. Smiling smugly, he turned and followed the General from the room.

Janet took a moment to settle her weak knees before turning and making sure Daniel had left. Her body wanted nothing more that to return to him and wrap herself in his arms, lose herself in the passion he stirred in her body. But her rational mind told her that, quite possibly, the Daniel she wanted was not the Daniel she knew at all.

Her heart heavy, she made her way slowly to the science lab, hoping against hope that she was wrong.

~*~*~*~*~*~

A half hour later, Janet found her head in her hands as she listened to Roger describe what they'd discovered about the worm and what had happened to his colleague George.

Apparently, when it had been exposed to any type of heat, including the body heat of the nearby scientists, the worm had become animated. Before the scientists could grab a hold of it, it had slithered over the table and up George's arm. Before Roger could grab the parasite, it had slinked up George's neck and burrowed into it. Roger had watched George carefully, noting that the other scientist simply smiled strangely before mentioning something about the "damn
sexy technician on Level 22" and taken off for the door. Roger had tried to stop him, but found George possessed of sudden almost superhuman strength. It had taken three guards to restrain him, a strange feat considering George was known as the most docile man on the base. Dr. Warner had immediately sedated George and taken x-rays, noting the worm had attached itself to the adrenal gland, which was now secreting much more than normal. The doctor had removed the worm, which was now residing in a protective glass, refrigerated case, lying dormant for the moment. George was doing fine, but he remembered nothing of his aggressive behavior or the moments leading up to it.

It all made sense now, especially considering the scientist had immediately gone for Daniel's lab to retrieve the second worm at learning how dangerous it could be, only to find the jar empty.

The sick feeling inside welled up as she realized that the worm must have infected Daniel, releasing all the aggression and possiveness she'd indulged in last night. Obviously, he was not acting of his own accord, which meant most of his actions had probably been a direct result of the parasite.

She refused to think of what that meant for them at the moment. It was more important they remove the second worm from Daniel, and fast. Rubbing her temples, she tried to figure out how to give the order to restrain the man she was fast beginning to realize she loved.

"Janet, I thought you'd be in the infirmary."

Her heart leapt at Daniel's voice, although the tinge of aggression alarmed her. Rising quickly, she moved to his side, obeying the instinctive urge to be near him, hoping that would at least curb a bit of the possessive urge she could feel coming off him in waves.

"I was just finishing up my business with Roger, so, now I'm done, and I'm all yours!" She gave him a small squeeze around the waist, hoping he didn't sense her unease. To her relief, he seemed to buy her words, giving her a small smile and pulling her closer, oblivious to the looks they were getting.

Daniel felt an instinctive easing of his jealousy as Janet leaned closer and smiled up at him, although there was something lingering in the back of her eyes that worried him. He made a vow to find out what it was as soon as he got her out of the lab and away from Roger.

"Okay, lead on, fair lady." He leaned down and brushed a kiss over her lips, wanting to at least let Roger know that Janet was off limits. With a smirk at the other man, he pulled Janet out the door with him.

Janet was trying to stay upright, even that small kiss enough to stir her blood. But right now, she couldn't go there, she had to get Daniel to the infirmary and in for x-rays. Sighing, she pushed aside her personal feelings and geared herself up for the plan she'd just set in motion.

~*~*~*~

Janet knew she would never forget the look of betrayal that had swept over Daniel's features as she'd jabbed the needle full of sedative into his arm.

Considering it had been while she'd been kissing him, she knew the betrayal cut even deeper. However, the only consolation she could take was that, judging from George's experience, Daniel wouldn't remember anything of what had happened. The thought was like a hot poker shoved in her heart, but she refused to cry. This was what had to happen to make sure Daniel was safe. At least she'd have the wonderful memories of the night before for the rest of her life.

"Is he going to be all right?" Her words, she hoped, were filled with doctorly concern, but from the look Dr. Warner was giving her, she knew that her personal feelings had slipped in.

"We removed the worm from his adrenal gland without problems and he's still sleeping. He should be awake within the hour, but judging from how George reacted, he won't remember anything about the past 24 hours."

Janet tried not to let her pain show as she avoided the inquisitive look her colleague was giving her.

Her thoughts were immediately distracted by the entrance of one very worried looking Jack O'Neill. Obviously, word of Danny's condition had reached him. Not surprising since she knew he kept a close eye on all his 'family' when they were on world as well as off.

"Where's Danny? What happened?"

Sighing, Janet headed over to the Colonel, masking her personal feelings as she began to explain.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Daniel winced as his eyes fluttered open, the slight pain at the back of his neck and the familiar sight of the white tile ceiling of the infirmary alerting him that once again, he had most likely done something stupid.

"Good, you're awake. Welcome back to the world, Dr. Jackson."

He frowned at the familiar, yet not as pleasant voice of Dr. Warner. He hadn't realized how much he looked forward to waking up to Janet's face and soft touch.

"Where's Janet?" A bit abrupt, but something inside of him was telling him that there was a reason his favorite doctor was not at his side.

"She's finishing up some reports but I'm sure she'll be in to see you once she hears you're awake. You know the Doc, nothing can keep her away from her favorite patient."

Jack's voice made him smile as his friend came to his bedside, the worry lines around his eyes easing as they always did on finding out one of his team, and his friends, was all right.

"Jack, what did I do now?"

The older man's gruff laughter made him smile, although there was something at the back of his mind that he just couldn't grasp. Something, he was suddenly sure had to do with Janet.

"I don't know, but apparently you got yourself infected with some parasite that had you glaring daggers at anyone who looked twice at the Doc. Scared a few of those scientists but good, so I hear. Didn't think you had it in you Space Monkey."

Daniel's eyes widened comically at the expression on Jack's face. He'd been possessive of Janet? To the point that he, mild-mannered archaeologist, had scared someone? What the hell had happened to him?

"Um, Jack, I really don't remember much of what happened. Is, um, Janet okay?"

Jack's smile faded a bit, but he gave his friend a sympathetic smile anyhow. It was obviously something had happened between the Doc and Daniel. He might be accused of being stupid, but he wasn't. The vibes the Doc had given while Daniel was still out of it, not to mention the way Daniel kept inquiring about her added up to something.

Of course, since it didn't look like Daniel would be any help, that meant he needed to go to the other source.

"Janet's fine, in fact, I'll go find her and let her know you're awake. Okay?"

Daniel watched his friend go, wishing he felt strong enough to follow. It was obvious there was something Jack wasn't telling him, and it only made him more on edge. Something had happened between him and Janet and he needed to know what.

Especially since his memory was now beginning to be flooded by images of him and Janet that were definitely not doctor/patient related.

Wincing, he closed his eyes, trying desperately to remember what his subconscious was determined to hide.

~*~*~*~*~

Janet took a deep breath as she approached Daniel's bed. She'd managed to fend off Jack, although she suspected the Colonel knew more than he'd let on. No one would ever convince her the man was not as bright, if not brighter, than some of the best at the SGC. Not to mention he knew Daniel and he knew her.

Still, she had to pretend that nothing had happened. It was going to be agony, looking into his blue eyes and remembering how they glowed with the heat of desire, how heavenly her name had sounded as he cried it out in passion. But, she had to put it behind her, he could never know or he would feel extremely guilty. She knew him well enough to know that.

Steeling her heart against the pain, she forced a smile to her face as she reached his bedside, catching her breath as his head turned and his blue eyes locked on her.

"Janet."

Daniel felt his heart leap to his throat as his gaze landed on the face he'd been desperate to see. His heart fell as he noted the guarded look in her beautiful eyes. It told him more than any words that she was keeping something from him.

"Daniel, it's good to see you awake. We were worried about you there for a while." Janet was proud her voice remained steady, although she was trying not to shift under the intensity of his gaze. There was something in his eyes, something she could have sworn she'd seen the night before. But it was gone before she could really notice it.

"Janet, what happened?" He knew he sounded desperate, knew she probably wouldn't give him the answers he wanted, but he needed to ask. The wary look in her eyes deepened as his heart sank. Obviously, it was worse than he'd thought.

"Those two worms we found in your jar were not exactly dead, Daniel. They were parasites, one of which infected you, making you more aggressive than usual. We managed to remove it before it did too much damage." The words were true but held a much deeper meaning for her. The damage she'd done had been brought on herself, ignoring her inner instinct that had told her that Daniel's passion for her was too good to be true.

"Are you sure about that?"

Her breath caught at the intensity in his words and she searched his eyes, desperate to see something, anything, that might give her a clue to how or what he remembered.

Daniel knew he'd hit something as her eyes flashed a moment before turning wary again. Obviously, he'd done something, something that had hurt her. The guilt was already beginning to eat him alive, especially since he was developing a sneaking suspicion it had to do with the sensual images he kept getting of the two of them.

"Janet, I'm so sorry." He heard the pleading tone in his voice, noted the surprise and flash of pain in her eyes but could not let her speak. "Whatever I did, what I did to you, I'm sorry if I hurt you. You know I never meant to do anything to ever hurt you-"

It was taking everything she had not to lean over and kiss him, reassure him that he hadn't done anything she hadn't wanted. But by doing that, she'd let him know that he had done something, that they'd both done something it was obvious he'd regret. But she couldn't live with herself if she let him keep thinking he'd hurt her. At least, physically.

"Daniel, nothing happened that I didn't want to. But it's over now, no guilt, no recriminations. I know it wasn't you, and I don't hold you responsible." The words were more revealing than she might like, but she couldn't help herself. The confusion in his eyes only made the pain that much greater. Unable to help herself, she leaned down and brushed a kiss over his cheek, struggling not to move to his lips.

"Get some sleep, you're going to be just fine." She whispered the words against his ear, then slipped from the room before the tears began to fall.

Daniel watched her go, memories suddenly flooding his mind of the night before. His breath caught as the full spectrum of the passion they'd experienced washed over him, the pure joy he'd felt from her and himself as they'd made love over and over.

Dear Lord, she thought he didn't mean any of it! She thought it was the parasite affecting him, not his own emotions. Closing his eyes, he cursed the nature of the job he did that put him in situations like this and the fact that it was his own impatient curiosity that had gotten them into this.

However, the parasite had obviously only acted on feelings he'd been harboring for months. He'd been wanting to ask Janet out for a long time, but had never worked up the courage. Obviously, though he had been influenced by this parasite, it had convinced him to do what it might have taken him years to work up the courage to ordinarily.

And if his memories were anything to go by, she'd been just as eager to 'enjoy' the experience as he had, and there was no parasite involved on her side. His heart began to beat faster as he realized that Janet must not have objected to his advances, in fact, seemed to have responded eagerly from what his memories were telling him. Which meant she felt something for him as well, her actions today even more proof.

Feeling a little more hopeful, he closed his eyes, trying to remember what had happened and then figuring out a way to make things right. Preferably a way that ended with him and Janet engaged in much more passionate activities by the end of the night.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Janet sighed as she waved good-bye to Sam. Her friend had returned from her visit with Jacob a few hours ago, and obviously had talked to Jack. Sam had immediately commandeered her for a late dinner, determined to pry what information she could out of her friend.

She winced at having to lie to her best friend about what had happened, but she really had no other choice. She couldn't deal with it herself right now. Besides, it would be good 'alone' time for Sam and Jack to discuss what they thought was going on between their friends.

Climbing into her car, she allowed a tear to escape as she remembered how yesterday at this time, she'd been leaving with Daniel, full of happiness and anticipation. Wiping away the stray droplet, she focused instead on her driving, determined to get home, needing time to herself to think and simply indulge in a good cry. She was glad Cassie was staying with a friend until Monday.

Pulling into her driveway, she walked slowly towards her front door, wishing that Daniel were with her and they were well on their way to another bout of passionate lovemaking. Still, she supposed it couldn't hurt to imagine, now that she had the reality to go by.

It wasn't until she pushed open her front door that it registered she was not alone. Her gaze immediately flew to the flickering shadows on the wall of the entranceway. Heart in her throat, hand on her cell phone, she moved cautiously towards the living room, stopping in shock at the sight that greeted her.

Candles filled every available surface, all white and of every shape and size. Soft music, something bluesy, reminiscent of what they'd danced to last night, filled the air. Dropping her purse, she looked around in confusion, wondering what in the world was going on. Her breath caught as she registered movement in the doorway from the kitchen.

"I figured that after last night, I needed to show you I could do gentle just as well as aggressive."

Daniel held his breath as he spoke, seeing the look of shock appear in her eyes as it registered that he remembered the night before. He was taking a huge gamble, based only on his memories, but he hoped it would pay off. It felt more right than anything had in a long time.

"Daniel, I-"

He stopped her by raising a hand. Moving closer, he spoke in a calm voice, knowing he was putting his heart on the line but unable to do anything less.

"Janet, I know you thought I wouldn't remember, thought that if I did, I would put it all on the parasite, but you're wrong." Seeing the spark of hope in her eyes, he moved closer. "Yes, the parasite increased my aggressiveness, but it only helped me to act on what I've been feeling for months."

Janet couldn't breathe, the words he spoke the ones she'd hoped against hope to hear. But she still couldn't believe she was hearing them. However, the look in his eyes told her he meant every word.

"Daniel, you don't have to-"

Her words were cut off by the feel of his lips on hers.

Daniel knew it was a risk, but he had to know. Pulling her into his arms, he kissed her with every ounce of feeling that had been building up for far too long. Her small moan as she parted her lips under his told him that she was not objecting, and willingly, he deepened the kiss. The feel of her soft body pressed against his was all the trigger he needed to fully remember the night before and he found his kiss turning even more passionate as the memories assailed his mind.

Janet, for her part, simply allowed herself to feel, amazed that she was here, and he was here, no parasite in sight. The thought, however, sobered her enough to pull back, a question on her face as she asked the one niggling little doubt in her mind.

"Daniel, you're sure this isn't the after effects of the adrenaline the parasite released-"

He stopped her again with a kiss, this one, however, much softer than the previous. When he finally allowed them to part, he smiled into her eyes, more certain than ever that she felt the same.

"Janet, I've wanted you for a long time now. And yes, I remember every moment of last night and this morning." He smiled as she blushed, but did not move from his arms. Seeing the hope in her eyes, he took a deep breath before continuing.

"I know that parasite caused me to be more aggressive, but it only allowed the shy archaeologist to express what he'd wanted for a long time. I want to try this, Janet, if it's what you want?" He stopped, still uncertain as to how much she wanted from him.

Janet felt her eyes fill, realizing that he meant his words and he really wanted to see where this led. He really did feel something for her, it was obvious in his eyes and words and the way he held her so tightly in his embrace.

"Oh, Daniel, of course I want that. But I thought you'd regret it, that you wouldn't remember-"

"How do you think I could forget the sight of you, lost in passion, crying out my name?" He husked the words against her ear, feeling her shiver in his arms. "Do you really think I wouldn't remember wanting you so much I couldn't even make it to the bedroom?" He peppered small kisses against her neck as he spoke, feeling her melt against him. He knew then that it was going to be all right.

Janet knew then that things were going to be all right. In fact, she had a suspicion things were going to be a whole lot better than they had been in a long, long time.

"You know, I never did get around to telling you about that fantasy I had of you and I on my kitchen table-"

They were the last words either spoke for the night.
