Major Janet Fraiser, MD, USAF looked at the person next to her. "How in the hell did we get here, Sam?" she asked.

Major Samantha Carter, PhD, USAF turned to look at her best friend and said "I don't know, Janet. Why don't you ask your husband?

Janet glowered at the astrophysicist. "Sam, now is not the time to be funny! I have a major hangover and authority to get bigger needles for your post-mission physicals."

"Janet, I'm serious! They made Daniel's off world marriage to Sha're legal, why not his marriage to you?"

"Ok, if I'm married to Daniel, then you married Colonel O'Neill!"

It then dawned on them, that this is possibly real. With that realization, the women ran up to where Daniel was walking with Teal'c. Jack, who was taking up the rear, quickly followed. As Janet came up behind the archaeologist, she grabbed his arm and spun him around. "Why didn't you tell me, and Sam for that matter, that we're legally married!?"

Daniel had a pole-axed look on his face. "What?!" he exclaimed.

"Daniel, your off world marriage to Sha're was made legal because you're an American citizen. What makes you think that this is any different?" Sam pointed out.

"I didn't think about that!"

"So we gathered." Janet drolly said.

"So...you guys are saying that not only are the Doc and Danny married, but Carter and me as well?! What are we going to tell Hammond?!" Jack said.

"I would suggest telling GeneralHammond the truth, O'Neill." Teal'c interjected.

"We do have to put it in our mission reports, Sir. Our weddings were a major part of our getting this alliance." Sam said, cringing as the light from the sun hit her eyes, aggravating her hangover.

"She does have a point, Colonel." Janet agreed.

"I hope he doesn't have a heart attack or you'll have to revive him, Janet." Daniel said.

"Ok campers, time to face the music." Jack said as they reached the Stargate. "Let's hope that Thor beams us up before Hammond kills us!"

"Or something else invades the base." Daniel added.

"Or another team comes back early and I have to go to the infirmary to take care of them" Janet threw in her two cents.

"Or I wouldn't mind even Anise coming with a new experiment, if it gets us out of this." Sam added.

"Do not worry, MajorO'Neill, DoctorJackson, DanielJackson, O'Neill. I will protect you from the wrath of GeneralHammond." Teal'c said, hiding his amusement.

"Thanks T!" Jack sarcastically said as the 'Gate activated and they stepped through-to their future.

------------------------------------------------------

After the checkup in the infirmary, SG-1 and Doctor Fraiser (well, Jackson now) reported to the debriefing.

"First of all, Dr. Fraiser, how was your first non-medical mission?" Hammond asked.

"Interesting, sir."

"Would you like to elaborate on that?"

"Uh...not really, sir. Daniel will explain it all" Janet said, foisting the attention off on her husband.

"Thanks, Dr. Fraiser." Daniel said, confused at Janet's glare aimed towards him.

"Will someone please explain why none of you are looking each other in the eyes?"

"Well sir, it started like this..." Daniel began.

------------------------------------------------------

(flashback)

After they stepped through the 'Gate on P4R-627, Jack made his usual comments about the abundant amount of trees. They began to walk along a path that led from the Stargate.

"So, Janet I didn't catch the reason Gen. Hammond sent you with us?" Sam wanted to know.

"I asked him to let me go through the Stargate for non-medical reasons once in a while. I figured I could keep my combat training in practice this way. Remember how rusty I was during the 'Hathor' incident a few years back?"

"Oh yeah." Sam replied.

"Doc, I thought I asked you *not* to talk about that?" Jack whined.

"Sorry Colonel."

With that, they lapsed into silence for a few hours. About two hours after leaving the Stargate, they came upon a village. As they entered, a man approached them. They were surprised to note that the man looked like Patrick Stewart. "Welcome to our village." He said. "I am Keric, head of our Council."

A younger man quickly came up and stood next to Keric. He bore a striking resemblance to Liam Neeson. "Keric, who are these people?" he asked.

"I was just about to find out. Travelers, this is my younger brother Teric."

"Keric and Teric, I am Colonel Jack O'Neill of the planet Earth. This is Major Samantha Carter, Doctor Daniel Jackson, Major Doctor Janet Fraiser, and Teal'c." Jack introduced, pointing to each of his companions as he said their names.

"We are honored to meet you all. Especially two such lovely ladies." Keric replied.

Sam and Janet blushed a light pink at the praise. Keric asked "Colonel, I take it you are the leader?"

"Yep!"

Daniel broke into the conversation "Our planet is involved in a fight with beings known as Goa'uld. Have your people dealt with them in the past?"

"The False Gods? Yes, we dealt with them fourteen generations ago. Or rather that's when we expelled them from this planet." Teric jumped in.

"Do you know how you expelled them?" Sam asked.

"Just stories. But they have not come back since then and our people do not wish them to return." Keric said.

"There is a mineral near here that our people would like to mine. It will help us in our fight against the Goa'uld" Daniel said, hoping the man would be receptive.

"Come, we will discuss this more over the noonday meal."

SG-1 began to follow Keric to what looked like a communal dining hall. It was then Keric noticed the weapons the team carried. "I'm sorry, but no weapons are allowed in the dining hall. I can show you to a hut where you can safely leave them however."

"One second while we discuss this." Jack said, not sure they should walk around unarmed.

SG-1 and Janet huddled together and each quietly stated their opinions.

"I think they're sincere." Daniel said.

"I agree, O'Neill." Teal'c interjected.

"While I'm inclined to trust them, we have done this before only to end up in Janet's care." Sam said.

"I'm with you, Carter. Doc?" Jack said.

"I say we leave the big weapons in the hut, but at least keep our sidearms as a precautions" Janet said.

"That sounds logical DoctorFraiser" Teal'c agreed.

They walked up to Keric. "We will leave our large weapons in the hut. However, we will keep our personal weapons on us. We promise to keep them out of sight." Jack offered.

"Why do you need personal weapons?"

"We have been through a lot and it would make us feel better if we just had our personal weapons on us. We will, as Colonel O'Neill said, keep them out of sight." Sam interjected.

"Oh, I understand. You may keep them but you *must* keep them out of sight." Keric conceded.

"Agreed." Jack said.

The team followed Keric and Teric into the hut. Ir had three rooms, two of which were big enough for two people. "Here you go, see you in five minutes outside." Teric spoke up.

The women took one room, while Daniel and Jack took another. Teal'c managed to get a room all to himself. They hurried to set their stuff down and helped each other to set their weapons out of sight. When they came out, Keric and Teric smiled and walked over to the ladies. "Ladies, my brother was mistaken, you two aren't just lovely, you're gorgeous." Teric complimented, aiming a grin at Sam.

"Thank you." Sam and Janet replied in unison.

Jack, feeling uncomfortable that Carter was being fawned over by this guy, spoke up "So where is this meal to take place.

"Ah, follow me." Keric said. The team followed him to a large longhouse-style building. "This is our Great Hall. Please come and eat."

As the team began eating Janet leaned over and poured herself something to drink, then filled Daniel's glass as well, as she often did when he popped into her office searching for coffee. Keric noticed this and looked disappointed. He leaned over and whispered to Daniel "So how long have you and Dr. Fraiser been married?" he asked.

Startled, Daniel asked the man "I'm sorry, what did you say?"

"I asked how long you and Dr. Fraiser have been married. Is it not your custom to have the wife pour a drink for the husband?"

"Why do you ask that?" Daniel asked, confused.

"If a single woman pours a drink for a man that is not her husband and he is not married, they *must* be married. If they do not, they both are put to death."

"Ah." Thinking quickly he asked "What if she's to be married to the man she pours the drink for?"

"Then they must be married by sundown."

After this comment, Teric looked around and saw Sam pour a drink for Jack. He turned to Daniel and asked quietly if Sam and Jack were married as well. "No, not yet. They are to be married soon, but on our world we have a long period to determine our compatibility to stay married for life."

"Oh. What other traditions of marriage do your people have?" Teric curiously asked.

"Well, most men, when they wish to marry a woman ask her father for permission to marry her. Jack has not been able to ask Samantha's father. If the father does not approve, then often the marriage will not take place."

"What about you and the Doctor?" Keric pressed.

"We are not to be married, yet. I have just finished the mourning period for my first wife. Her husband 'died' many seasons ago." Daniel lied, not knowing how to explain divorce to these people. "We are testing our compatibility before I go and seek her father's permission."

"What if the father is dead, I mean, who would the man ask? The woman's older brother?" Keric asked.

"Yes, we ask her oldest male sibling. If she has no male siblings, we ask the nearest male relative."

"Ah, but she poured for you. You must marry her or we can have no alliance and all of you, except the one you call Teal'c, will die. It must be before sundown, no delays."

"Fine." Daniel said resigned to the fact. "May I speak with them, let them know what is going on?"

"It is only fair." Keric said.

After the meal, Daniel led SG-1 back to the hut. He then began to explain what his conversation with Keric had been about. After he had finished, they all sat in shock.

"So you are saying that we have to get married or we all will die?" Jack asked incredulously.

"Yeah Jack, that's exactly what I'm saying. But don't worry, its not like we will actually be married. It is just for the mission."

"As long as you're sure it won't be legal, I'm in." Sam said.

"I'll find Keric and tell him we wish to be married."

------------------------------------------------------

After the preparations had been made, the women were taken to the other side of the village. They were pampered like they were spending the day at a spa. "Janet, we have *got* to come back here."

"Oh, yeah!" Janet agreed.

They finished and headed into the next room, where some traditional clothing was waiting for them. They quickly dressed and were led to the village square, where a cloth hung between Keric and Teric. They walked up to Keric and stood next to him.

"My people..." Keric began. "Our visitors wish to make an alliance with us. And to seal the alliance, we will witness the joining of these two women with these two men."

He paused. "According to their tradition, they have not seen each other from the moment they agreed to the ceremony until now. Daniel, lift the cloth as you will be going first."

Daniel did as he was asked and lifted up the cloth in front of his bride-to-be. His breath caught at the sight of her. She was dressed in a simple red gown that brought out the highlights in her hair. A ring of flowers adorned her head and her hair brushed her shoulders. At that moment, he thought that Janet Fraiser had never looked more beautiful.

Janet, for her part, thought Daniel looked delicious. He was wearing pants that matched the sky blue of his eyes and a light brown tunic that matched the color of his hair. He has never looked so good, she thought smiling.

"Hi." He said.

"Hi." She replied.

"Shall we begin?" Keric asked.

The man led them through the ceremony, which included an exchange of simple rings (much like on Earth) that Teric had found. Amazingly, they fit perfectly. After the conclusion of Daniel and Janet's ceremony, it was Sam and Jack's turn.

They proceeded through the ceremony without a hitch. Teal'c secretly took pictures with the camera, but he had no posed pictures. He finally asked if he could get each couple to pose.

"Pose for what, Teal'c?" Janet asked.

"I must get pictures of DanielJackson and yourself as well as MajorCarter and O'Neill. It is for the mission report." Teal'c logically replied.

"Ah, ok! Daniel!" She called to her new husband.

"Yeah?"

"We need pictures for the mission report."

"Ok." With that, they managed to talk Sam and Jack into posing as well. Teal'c marveled at how easily the other members of his team were convinced to be married. Then it hit him: he had not drank the native punch, while they all did. 'It must make people more susceptible to suggestions, much like the creature Urgo.' Teal'c thought. He resolved to ask Keric the next day.

The celebration lasted well into the night. The next morning, Daniel woke up and found a red blur on his chest. 'Red? The only thing I know that color red is...Janet's hair!' Head pounding, he shook the sleeping woman awake. "Janet!" he hissed.

"Wha...? Daniel what the hell are you doing in my bed?! And why am I naked?!" she asked frantically.

"Ahh!!!" They heard from the next room. "Sam and Jack!" they exclaimed in unison, hurriedly getting dressed and running onto the next room. There they found a terrified Carter and O'Neill. "What happened?!" Everyone asked at the same time.

"I believe I can answer that." Teal'c spoke up as he came into the room. "In order to form an alliance with the people of this place, all of you agreed to be married."

"WHAT??!!" they cried in unison, also clutching their heads in pain.

"I believe it was DanielJackson who suggested that course of action."

"DANIEL!!!" Janet, Sam, and Jack shouted at the archaeologist.

"I don't remember that!" he protested.

"But you did recommend it. And I do have pictures for the mission report." Teal'c said.

"Oh Joy!" Jack said.

"Let's find out exactly what happened, then go home." Daniel suggested, trying to avoid getting killed.

They found Keric quickly and after he confirmed everything that Teal'c had said, Janet asked for a sample of what ever it was they drank "For our leader." she explained. They then began the walk to the Stargate, the villagers shouting "Congratulations!" As soon as they were out of sight of the village, they lapsed into silence until Sam and Janet came to their brilliant conclusion.

------------------------------------------------------

(End Flashback)

"...So you see General, we did this to form an alliance with these people and we succeeded." Daniel finished.

"But under their traditions, yourself and Dr. Fraiser are married, as well as Col. O'Neill and Maj. Carter?" Hammond asked to clarify.

"Yes, sir." Daniel said.

"Well that shouldn't be a problem, unless the marriages were...consummated?" Hammond asked, trying to be tactful. "They weren't, were they?"

"Ummm...we don't know. None of us remember the events of last night, sir. We're hoping the post-mission physicals will tell us that. They were pretty extensive, due to the fact that we have a gap in our memories." Janet said, cringing at the look on Hammond's face.

"If the marriages were, the marriages are technically legal. And if they are legal, you all will have to discuss where to go from there. If one couple or both decide to stay married then I will work something out." Hammond offered.

Dr. John Warner walked into the briefing. "General Hammond, I have the results from the post-mission physicals."

"Dr. Warner, were the marriages...consummated?"

Warner blushed and stammered "Uh...y-yes, sir."

"Both of them, Doctor?" Hammond prodded.

"Yes, sir." Warner said confidently.

"Ok. SG-1, Dr. Fraiser - all of you are on downtime until this issue is resolved. Dismissed!" Hammond said, getting up and going into his office. 'Why didn't I retire years ago?" he thought to himself. He sighed, then sat down and picked up the red phone. "Hey, I have some news regarding SG-1. You won the bet, they got drunk on some native concoction and ended up getting married. Not only that, but Dr. Jackson and Dr. Fraiser got married as well."

"Really?" came the President's amused voice.

"Yes!" Hammond replied. "I need permission for O'Neill and Carter to stay married. They weren't involved before this mission, but they most likely will want to stay married. Thank goodness Jackson is a civilian or I'd need your help with him and Fraiser, that is if they decide to stay hitched."

"Oh, too true. I have the fax regarding O'Neill and Carter ready. Everybody knew they'd end up together, so its been prepared a while. I'm sending it now."

"Thanks."

"No, thank you. I *am* fifty dollars richer."

------------------------------------------------------

Daniel and Janet decided to discuss the situation at her house. Jack and Sam disappeared, so it would just be them. Daniel followed Janet's Blazer off the base. When they arrived at her house, he parked at the curb and walked to the front door. She fished out her keys and unlocked the door. "Come on in." she said over her shoulder as she walked in.

Daniel followed his wife into her house. 'My wife. Never thought I'd use that phrase again.' he smirked, liking the sound of it. The smile was soon wiped off his face by the realization that she may not want this marriage. He felt hurt, as somehow over the years he had known her, he'd fallen for Janet Fraiser. He didn't know when or how it happened, but somehow this beautiful, kind, selfless woman had captured his heart.

He walked into the living room, kicking off his shoes as he went. Noticing that Janet had walked into the kitchen to put on a pot of coffee, he followed. He then began to raid her refrigerator for food. "Daniel, what are you doing?" Janet asked, a little amused to see the archaeologist throw food onto her kitchen counter.

"Getting some food out, I'm hungry.

"Well, put everything back and we'll order Chinese."

"That sounds great." Daniel replied.

Janet called in to the nearby Chinese place and, looking at her watch, ordered enough for three. After she hung up, Daniel, who by now had poured himself some of the finished coffee, asked "You expecting someone, Janet? That is a lot of food."

"Yeah, Cassie should be home from practice soon."

"Oh, what practice?"

"She's taken up soccer."

"Cool. I tried to play once, but they made me be goalie and the ball hit my nose, breaking it."

"Poor Danny, always injured."

"Yep."

"Shall we go into the living room? The coffee's obviously done and the food won't be here for a while."

"Sure."

They walked into the living room and sat on opposite sides of the coffee table.

"So..." Janet said, trying to break the ice.

"So..." Daniel replied.

"You first!" they said in unison.

"Why are we so nervous? We *are* friends."

"Yes!" Janet agreed.

"Um...what should we do about...well, us?" Daniel asked hesitantly?

"I don't know, Daniel. Probably get an annulment or divorce."

"Why?"

"Why?! Why not, Daniel?! You are still grieving for your wife! You don't need to be tied down to a 5'2" divorced doctor with a teenage daughter! But the biggest reason is you don't love me!" Janet said, unwittingly spilling out her fears and doubts. She *did* love him and had for a long time, but she knew she'd never have a chance with him.

"Janet, hold on just one minute! First, I'm not grieving anymore! I've let go! Second, I don't care how tall you are! Third, I love Cassie and I'd love to be a bigger part of her life! And who said I didn't love you!" He said, voice rising as he made his points.

"You never said you did!" she shot back accusingly.

"Well I do!" Daniel emphatically said.

Then it hit Janet what he said. "You...love...me??"

"Yes! I don't know when or how, but you touched a part of my heart that I thought was dead. I would be honored if you would consider staying my wife."

Janet was saved from answering by the slam of the front door. "Mom!" Cassandra's voice rang into the house.

"Yes Cassie!" Janet replied, secretly relieved she didn't have to make a decision.

Cassie walked into the living room. Surprised to see Daniel there, she asked "Nothing is wrong is it?"

"No. Cass, sit down. We have something to tell you."

Knowing well that that tone of voice meant something serious had happened, Cassie sat down on the couch. After her mother had finished the story, Cassie did the only logical thing: She laughed so hard she fell off her seat.

"Cassandra, we're *really* married." Janet said.

"I know you were serious about that, but I'm curious: how was the wedding night?" she smirked, knowing what was to come next.

"Cassandra Marie Fraiser!" Janet scolded, though she knew better than to be shocked.

"Well?" Cassie asked.

"Uh...we don't remember." Daniel sheepishly admitted.

"So what now?" Cassie asked.

"Well, I'd like to try this. It's up to you and your mother, though." he said as the doorbell rang. "Ooh, that's the Chinese. I'll get it." He left the room, hoping that they'd talk and he could get his answer.

While Daniel set up the dining room table for dinner, Cassie and Janet talked.

"So mom, can we keep him? I mean he's nice, smart, and he cares about us."

"I don't know, Cass."

"I think maybe you guys should stay married, but date until you're sure that this is what you want."

"You don't mind having him as your stepfather?" Janet asked.

"Not as long as he treats both of us with respect." Cassie said.

"Dinner's ready!" came the call from the dining room. Janet and Cassie got up and walked into where Daniel had beautifully set up the table, with candles and proper matching plates. They ate, chatting about Cassie's day at school. Not only that, Daniel told stories of his early digs that had both women cracking up. They all cleaned up then Cassie went upstairs to do her homework, hoping that her mom would 'keep' the accident-prone man.

After an uncomfortable silence, Daniel began "So... you never answered my question: are you going to consider staying my wife?"

"Yes, I'll consider it. Cassie had an idea, and I agree. We should actually date."

"Ok, I can live with that."

"I should check on Cass. Make sure she's doing her homework."

"Oh, right. How about our first date? Tomorrow night, 7:00?"

"Sure."

"I'll see you then."

------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, both couples informed General Hammond. Hammond then moved Daniel to Dr. Warner's care and handed Sam and Jack the fax saying they could stay married.

Two months after the mission, Janet began throwing up. Her and Daniel's relationship had been going well and they were planning on his moving in very soon. Cassie loved the fact that she could introduce people to *her* dad, which Daniel had truly become. True, there were some rocky points, but the Jackson family was pretty happy.

Janet ran through the symptoms then paled. 'No, I couldn't be. We haven't since...our wedding night! And the only reason for that is because Daniel's been in the infirmary so often! Damn!' She hurried to the infirmary and performed a pregnancy test on herself. Ten minutes later she had her answer. 'I'm pregnant! How am I going to tell Daniel?!'

She resolved to tell him that night at dinner. She called Cassie and asked her to stay away tonight as she had plans to do something with Daniel. She made a list of things to buy at the store, then went and left a note on Daniel's desk.

As soon as her shift was over, she hurried to the store and then home. She began dinner then went to her room and dressed herself in her favorite blue dress.

When Daniel got there in a nice blue dress shirt and a maroon tie, he was surprised at how the house looked. It was candlelit and the smell of food wafting from the dining room made his mouth water. As he walked in, his jaw dropped. His wife, 'I still *love* that!' was standing there in his favorite color. She looked so beautiful, and it took all of his control not to take her in his arms and kiss her senseless.

"Sit down Daniel." she gently commanded.

He sat and they began to eat. He noticed that all the portions were something with the word 'baby' in it. Of course, being dense, he didn't get it. Janet shook her head and said "Excuse me, I have to get something. Its a surprise, so stay right here." With that, she walked out.

"Ok." He said confused.

She came back in and handed a teddy bear to Daniel. It had a little heart on its sleeve that said "I love my Daddy" on it. Still not getting it, Daniel asked Janet what was going on.

Frustrated, Janet finally came out and said "I'm trying to tell you something."

"Oh what's that?"

"I'm gonna have a baby!"

"You mean...?"

"Yes! I'm due in about seven months!"

"Oh." Daniel said stunned as it began to sink in.

"Is that all you're gonna say?"

"No. I'm thrilled!" He picked her up and spun her around. "I love you and I already love this child!"

"Uh, Daniel. Spinning around a pregnant woman is *not* a good idea!"

"Oh! Sorry! What are we going to tell Cassie?"

"The truth. She'll be happy!"

"There was something I wanted to ask her."

"You can call her at her friend Megan's, ya know. You know she considers you her dad."

"I know, I'm honored. Anyway, that can wait. First I'm going to celebrate with my wife." Daniel grinned.

"Oh?" Janet asked, eyebrow raised.

"Yep!" He turned on the stereo to Janet's country station. "I love you, Major Doctor Janet Elizabeth Fraiser-Jackson."

"I love you too, Doctor Daniel Nicholas Jackson."

They continued to dance to the song on the radio, each reflecting on what had got them to this point in their lives. They were married to the best friend they ever had and now they were going to have a child together. A new song came on the radio and Daniel said to Janet "You know, this song reminds me of you."

I never had no one that I could count on
I've been let down so many times
I was tired of hurtin'
So tired of searchin'
Til you walked into my life

It was a feelin' I'd never known
And for the first time, I didn't feel alone

"You know, that's the truth." Janet said

You're more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh, we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you

I don't know where I'd be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
You're my best friend
You're my best friend, oh yeah

You stand by me
And you believe in me
Like nobody ever has
When my world goes crazy
You're right there to save me
You make me see how much I have
And I still tremble when we touch
And oh the look in your eyes
When we make love

"Oh how true this is." Daniel had to say.

You're more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh, we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you

I don't know where I'd be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
You're my best friend

You're my best friend

You're more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh, we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Everytime I look at you

I don't know where I'd be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
You're my best friend

You're my best friend
You're my best friend

They danced to the song, deciding that they would play it at their second wedding. One they would have for everyone not able to attend the first. Daniel officially adopted Cassie, and three months after the second wedding, Daniel and Janet's son, Nicholas Samuel Jackson was born. Two years later, their son Thomas George Jackson was born. Four years after Tommy was born, the Jackson family got a little surprise named Jacqueline Danielle.

------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to say they lived happily ever after, but like every family they had their highs and lows. The love each member had for each other carried them through.

Comments and suggestions, anything but flames to my e-mail. I'm thinking of sending the Patrick Stewart clone used in this fic to Teryl, but what would she do with him? *evil smirk*
