Talent

PAIRING: Daniel/Janet, mentions Daniel/Sha're and Janet/other.
RATING: PG-13, at the most
SUMMARY: What happens when the SGC have a talent show?
DISCLAIMER: I don't own anything. Nada, zip, zilch. If I did, wouldn't I have more money in the bank?
AUTHOR'S NOTES: Happy D/J Day!! Here is a pretty present!

I know this has been done before, mostly in humor, but I heard one of these songs on the radio on the way to work and had to write a story with this in it. And this is how it turned out.

"We have to do WHAT? Are you kidding?" Colonel Jack O'Neill said to his Commanding Officer, General George Hammond.

"Colonel, I am not kidding. I keep hearing complaints that morale is low, so I planned a talent show for a month from today." Hammond replied.

"Sir, I don't have any talent, besides science. Can I be Master of Ceremonies instead?" Major Sam Carter asked.

"Sure, Major, as long as I can be co-MC."

"I don't foresee it as a problem, sir."

"You all are dismissed to the infirmary, I have to make a certain announcement."

SG-1 then got up and left. Off to the land of big needles and a certain Napoleonic power monger.

******************************************************

Janet Fraiser looked up as her least favorite patients strolled through the door. 'Thank God, none of them look seriously hurt. Although, Col. O'Neill looks as if someone ran over his dog.'

"Hey everyone!" she said as she briskly walked over to one of the beds.

"Hey Doc." Jack replied for the rest of his team.

"Something up Col.? You look like someone punched you in the stomach."

"Just listen, Janet." Sam said as the base's PA system crackled to life.

"This is Gen. Hammond. Due to reports of low morale that have been brought to my attention, I'm pleased to announce that the 1st annual SGC Talent Show will be held four weeks from today. The only way anyone can get out of coming is if you are laid up and in Dr. Fraiser's care. That is all."

"A talent show? Wow, I can't wait." Janet said. "Anyone going to sign up?"

"That's the thing, Doc. SG-1 has to participate. Something about being the flagship team."

"Ah." Janet said, trying to hide a smile.

"Yeah, I'm going to MC with Gen. Hammond, but these three have to come up with acts."

"If you need suggestions, let me know." With that,
Janet took off her gloves, having administered their post-mission physicals while she spoke. "You are all free to go."

Daniel spoke up before she turned into her office. "Hey Janet, can I get a refill of my allergy meds?"

"Sure, just let me write a prescription." Hastily scribbling a note, she gave it to Daniel and went into her office to laugh her ass off at SG-1's predicament.

******************************************************

That bubble was burst a day later after Gen. Hammond told Janet she had to participate as well. When she told Sam, Carter had burst out hysterically in laughter.

"No offense, Jan, but how in the hell are you going to do this?"

"I've got an idea, something I haven't done in years. You'll have to wait until the show to see, as punishment for laughing at me."

"Fine. Just one question though: will I need a painkiller afterwords?" Sam asked.

"No!" Janet indignantly replied. "Just for that, I'm going to get bigger needles for your next physical."

"OK, the talent show is a no-topic. Agreed?"

"Agreed. New subject: Is it me, or is Daniel acting a bit strange?"

"Its not you. The whole base is noticing it. He's not talking either. I'm gonna have to mention the no-topic, OK?" Sam said.

"Fine, as long as you don't mention my part in it."

"Daniel hasn't said anything about what he plans to do for it. Just that it will surprise people. He hasn't even told Jack. Everyone knows that Jack and Teal'c are working on a comedy scene."

"Really?" Janet said "I didn't think that Teal'c could do funny."

"Apparently he's going to be the straight man."

"Now that makes sense."

All of a sudden the base's PA came to life. "Dr. Fraiser to the infirmary, Dr. Fraiser to the infirmary!"

"That's my cue. Later Sam!" Janet called behind her as she left the commissary.

******************************************************

A few days later, the whole base was primed and ready to go for the talent show. Hammond had asked Siler, Davis, and Dr. Warner to be the judges and posted the rules in the commissary.

There were to be three rounds of judging. After the first round the top five acts of the two categories (comedy and music) would move on. After the second round it would be the top three. From those three would be chosen the winner of each category. Because this obviously would take a while to do, there would be a private screening with the judges a week before the show and the top eight acts from each category would perform. Hammond was going to recall all the teams from off world for two days, one for the first and second round and the second day for the finals.

******************************************************

Daniel Jackson was nervous, to say the least. He had spent all month in secret about what he planned to do. He didn't know if he was ready, although at his audition they all said he was really good.

He was also a bit nervous about the speech he planned before his act. He finally decided to admit his feelings for a certain auburn-haired doctor, and he sincerely hoped she felt the same way.

Daniel sat at the front of the stage waiting for the show to begin and remembered that he had to go prepare for his performance two acts before his own. That act would be a Captain Marks from SG-5. Just as he finished that thought, Sam and Hammond walked out on stage.

******************************************************

Janet was profoundly nervous. She couldn't believe what she was about to do. She was going to confess her feelings for a certain accident-prone archaeologist and prayed he felt the same way. She knew she was up after Marks from SG-5, so that meant she had to get ready after Sgt. Baxter from the commissary.

She took her seat near the stage and watched the show begin.

******************************************************

Teal'c and Jack's act was pretty funny, Daniel had to concede. 'What are they going to do to top that for the next round?' he thought. Then Sam announced the beginning of the music portion and Daniel's nerves came back full force. 'oh boy' he sighed.

As he waited for Capt. Marks to be announced he noticed a certain CMO preparing to go backstage. 'I hope nothing's wrong back there, she's not performing...I think' then he realized that he never asked if she was. Just as he came to that conclusion Capt. Marks was announced and off he went to prepare.

******************************************************

Janet was standing backstage, waiting for Marks tofinish his rendition of _We're Not Gonna Take It_ by Twisted Sister. 'I hope my song goes better' she thought.

She was brought out of her reverie by Sam's voice. "And now, straight from of the land of needles, our favorite Napoleonic power monger, Dr. Janet Fraiser!"

She walked out to some applause. 'Definitely BIG needles for Sam' she thought before she began to speak.

"Thanks Sam for that intro, although you might be in a little more pain as you leave the infirmary next time" the audience laughed as Sam's face paled "all kidding aside, this song I'm about to do is for a special someone who I felt needed to be reminded that even though it seems like it, he's not alone."

With that she sat down at the piano provided and began to play _You're Not Alone_ by Amy Grant.

I saw you walking by yourself
Your eyes were crying out for help
I know you feel your pain is more
Then anyone's been hurt before.

I know love hurts when it's over
If you wanna cry it's alright
You're like a fallen soldier
But you just can't lay down and die.

You've got to remember
You're not alone in this world
Always remember
You're not alone in this world.

The moment that i looked at you
I recognized the killing truth
You really think there's no way out
But if you let me, i can help you now.

Through all these shattered emotions
There's a lesson to learn
So come on let me hold you closer
Love can soothe what love has burned.

You've got to remember
You're not alone in this world
Always remember
You're not alone in this world.
You've got to remember
Never alone, never alone, never, never alone.

I got to tell you now baby
Through all these shattered emotions
There's a lesson to learn
So come on let me hold you closer
Love can soothe what love has burned.

You've got to remember
You're not alone in this world
Always remember
You're not alone in this world.

You've got to remember (got to remember)
You're not alone in this world
Always remember (got to remember)
You're not alone in this world.

You've got to remember (got to remember)
You're not alone in this world
Always remember (got to remember)
You're not alone in this world.
You've got to remember.

After she had finished, she looked up to see a stunned audience. No one knew the Doc could play or sing like that. Once they got over their shock, they began to clap enthusiastically.

"Thanks" she blushed and bowed. Sam said "Let's hear it one more time for the Doc!" The crowd cheered and Janet walked off the stage. Daniel saw her just before they announced his name. "Janet!"

"Hi Daniel."

"That was beautiful."

"Thanks."

"I've got to go, it's my turn now. Promise you'll watch?"

"Sure." After saying that, Daniel turned and walked to his position. Just in time to hear Hammond finish the introduction " ...another singing Doctor, SG-1's very own Daniel Jackson!"

With a deep breath, he walked out to a smattering of applause. "Thanks General. Most of you know of my late wife and how she died. However, what you don't know is that today is the anniversary of the day she died. It's ok because a part of me had started mourning the day she was taken. In her culture, the first anniversary of a loved one's death is considered a day of letting go. So, I admit I'm letting go of her, but I will always remember what she taught me about myself. I know you all are wondering why I'm saying all this, so I'll get to the point. Someone here has fixed this man's broken heart and I'm willing to give it to her, but she's been hurt before and I just want her to know that I'm not like him."

Without further ado, he picked up the guitar he had brought on-stage with him and began to play _Fall Into Me_ by Emerson Drive.

Right here waiting
staying strong come
and fall into me

You say you turned it off
Hid your heart up on a shelf
Scared of what it might cost
To Take it down for someone else
In loving him you lost
Too much of yourself
Baby can't you see
That he's not me

And i need you
To know you can fall into me
That my arms are wide open
And will Always Be
Right here waiting
Staying
Strong come and fall into me

I'll follow any road
Anywhere to get to you
I'll open up my soul
If thats what you need me to do
Now baby its your move all you got to do
Is believe in love
Just believe in us

And i need you
To know you can fall into me
That my arms are wide open
And will Always Be
Right here waiting
Staying
Strong come and fall into me

Just believe in love
Just believe in us......BABY

And i need you
To know you can fall into me
That my arms are wide open
And will Always Be
Right here waiting
Staying
Strong come and fall into me

come and fall into me
Baby Fall into me

The audience started applauding as soon as the last chord was played. Daniel stood and bowed to the audience as Hammond said "Let's hear it again for Dr. Jackson!"

Daniel smiled, bowed again, then hurried offstage to get a drink of coffee. Janet met him backstage as Corp. Morris of SG-3 went on-stage as the last act in the first round.

"Daniel, I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I didn't know you could play."

"Its one of my hidden talents. I actually learned how to play guitar when I was in college, it helped me to concentrate. I lost my guitar in a fire during a dig and just never bought a new one."

"Really. You didn't lose your touch, I thought the song was really good. So you're officially back on the market, huh?"

"Sort of, like I said, someone has put this heart back together. I hope she knew I was talking about her when I gave that speech."

"If she didn't, then she probably thought it meant someone else or maybe she's a little dense when it comes to you."

Just then, Sam's voice called out "All contestants please report to the stage for the cut!"

They walked on the stage and took their places. After the announcements were finished, the doctors were surprised they had both made the cut into the second round.

"Congratulations, Janet" Daniel offered.

"Thanks, you too Daniel" she replied.

They walked off the stage, Daniel going over to Jack and Teal'c to congratulate them on making the cut as well, and Janet to the infirmary to check on the few patients that were in there.

******************************************************

Sam called for all the contestants to meet in the briefing room before the second round. She asked them to draw straws for the order. Janet was third, while Daniel ended up being last. Jack and Teal'c were going to be first in their category. After that was settled, they all made their way to the commissary to continue the show.

As they separated at the door, Daniel turned to his favorite Doc and offered "Good luck, Janet."

"Thanks, Good luck to you too, Daniel."

Janet went backstage to primp herself for her performance. 'last chance Jan' she thought to herself, 'he has feelings for someone else so you'd better confess before you miss your shot at him.'

Then she heard Hammond saying "And now for your listening pleasure, our wonderfully talented Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Janet Fraiser."

She walked out on-stage and sat at the piano. "Thanks General Hammond. This next song is also for that same special someone I spoke about earlier. I have had feelings for him for awhile now but never could say anything for one reason or another. I have seen him through a lot of tough things since we met, but he never lost that spark in his eyes that attracted me to him in the first place. I know this is a bit out of left field, but I can't hold it in any longer. So here goes nothing."

She began to play _Light In Your Eyes_ by Leann Rimes.

Life can take your dreams and turn them upside down
Friends will talk about you when you're not around
Reality can really cut you down to size
But don't ever lose that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose that light in your eyes

People make you promises they'll never keep
Soon you'll know why people say, 'Talk is cheap!'
Life resembles one big compromise
But don't ever lose that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose that light in your eyes

Keep on shining
Keep on smiling
Don't lose faith and don't lose heart
When you're crying
Just keep trying to remind yourself you're a shining
star
Yes you are

Somewhere down the line you'll face the judgment day
When the angels look at you...what will you say?
They've got a way of knowing who qualifies
Just let 'em see that light in your eyes

Keep on shining
Keep on smiling
Don't lose faith and don't lose heart
When you're crying
Just keep trying to remind yourself you're a shining
star
Yes you are

Don't ever lose that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose that light in your eyes
Don't ever lose...
Don't ever lose..

The crowd applauded and some even gave wolf whistles at the blushing CMO. "One more time for Dr. Fraiser!" Hammond said.

Janet bowed, said "Thanks", and walked off the stage to sit down among the crowd. She couldn't believe she had just done that. She had basically told everyone she was in love with Daniel. 'What is he thinking?' she wondered.

******************************************************

Daniel's heart dropped 'she has feelings for someone? well Danny boy this is your last chance to make your feelings for her known and hope that its you she's talking about.'

Sam's voice came out after Corp. Morris had finished, breaking his reverie. "And now for our final act of today, SG-1's very own Spacemonkey and my surrogate brother, Dr. Daniel Jackson!"

He walked out on-stage with a grin. "Thanks Sam for reminding me of that ridiculous nickname. Remember 595?"

Sam glared at him. "Yeah, so?"

"Call me that again and not only will I tell that story, I will help Janet find her biggest needles for your next physical. Oh, by the way, thanks sis."

"No problem, you ready to sing?"

"Yeah. But before I do I would like to dedicate this song to the woman who not only put this man's heart back together, but put the sparkle back into his eyes."

With that he began to play _Crazy for This Girl_ by Evan and Jaron.

She rolls the window down
And she
Talks over the sound
Of the cars that pass us by
And I don't know why
But she's changed my mind

Chorus:
Would you look at her
She looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured out
I'm crazy for this girl

She was the one to hold me
The night
The sky fell down
And what was I thinking when
The world didn't end
Why didn't I know what I know now

Would you look at her
She looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured out
I'm crazy for this girl

Right now
Face to face
All my fears
Pushed aside
And right now
I'm ready to spend the rest of my life
With you

Would you look at her
She looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured out
I'm crazy for this girl

Would you look at her
She looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured out
I'm crazy for this girl

The song ended and Daniel took a bow while the audience applauded. "Once again for Daniel Jackson!" Sam announced.

Daniel walked off the stage, deep in thought. 'I hope she got the message this time.'

Janet sat in the audience, thinking 'I hope this girl is good enough for him.'

As soon as the votes were tallied, Sam announced the finalists. Jack and Teal'c didn't make it, but Janet and Daniel did. After the announcement, Daniel caught up to the doctor, hoping to congratulate her.

"So, the finals huh?" Daniel said, trying to sound casual.

"Yep. You have any idea on how to top your previous performances?"

"I actually do, thanks. Anyway I just wanted to say good luck."

"You too." Janet said, beginning to walk away.

Daniel finally screwed up his courage and decided to hell with it. "Janet!"

She turned around and arched and eyebrow. "Yes, Daniel?"

"I hope you won't think this strange, but I want to know...are you free tonight?"

"I get off at 1700, and I don't have any plans, why?" She asked, daring to hope he meant what she thought he did.

"Would you like to have dinner with me then?"

Inside Janet Fraiser, fireworks were going off and the angels were singing the Hallelujah chorus. "I'd love to" she said "what time?"

"How about 1900, I mean 7 o'clock?"

"Sounds fine, besides Cassie is at a friend's for the night."

"See you then!" Daniel said, walking away. As soon as he got to his on base quarters, he sank to the floor in relief, then shouted "YES!"

*****************************************************

Janet Fraiser stood in front of her closet, trying to decide what to wear for dinner with the guy she'd been in love with for what seemed like ages. She tossed outfit after outfit onto her bed.

She finally decided on a black ankle-length skirt and a sapphire long-sleeved shirt. She carefully did her hair and make-up, remembering the speeches Daniel made about having someone special. She figured he was going to ask her advice on how to approach the lucky woman, but she'd be damned if she didn't look good.

******************************************************

Daniel stood in front of Janet's door at 5 to 7. He had made reservations at _The Robin's Nest_, one of the nicest restaurants he knew. He had spent an hour in the mall, having searched his closet for a suit and tie and not finding one that would work for tonight's date.

He had picked out a charcoal suit with a crimson shirt and a charcoal tie. He had also gotten a haircut and new shoes. He hoped he would impress the woman who had unwittingly captured his heart. He knew she had feelings for a special guy and he sincerely hoped the man was good enough for her.

Daniel took a deep breath and knocked on the door. It opened to reveal the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He smiled and barely managed to get through "Hello".

When he finally got his mouth to work again, he said " Wow Janet, you look stunning" he handed her the dozen tulips he had gotten for her "these are for you."

"Tulips! Oh these are my favorite!" Janet exclaimed. "And may I say Daniel, that you look very handsome tonight. Won't you come in?" she offered.

"Sure. Our reservation is at 7:30" Daniel replied "The restaurant isn't too far from here, however."

"Oh, ok. Do you want some coffee or water?" Janet asked, trying not to sound too nervous.

"No thanks." Daniel said, looking around at the decor.

"Just let me get my jacket and we'll go."

"That sounds fine." Daniel said as she walked to the hall closet. When she returned, he helped her into her jacket and out to the car, opening the passenger door for her.

"Thank you Daniel." Janet said softly.

"Its no problem." he replied.

******************************************************

After they got to the restaurant and were seated, Daniel asked Janet what her favorite childhood memory was, in order to break the ice. As soon as she finished, they began to open up to one another, telling jokes and stories until it was time for dessert.

"Would you like any dessert?" the waiter asked.

"No." They both replied. Daniel added "May we have the check?"

The waiter brought the check as they got ready to leave the restaurant. Daniel led Janet to the car and helped her in.

"Do you feel like going dancing, or would you like to come to my apartment for coffee?" Daniel asked.

"I think I'd rather enjoy the coffee, it's been a long day." Janet replied.

"Sure." Daniel said as he began the drive to his apartment.

******************************************************

They sat around and chatted while drinking their coffee. Finally the moment of truth had arrived, the subject both were avoiding...the special someone in their lives. Neither Janet or Daniel wanted to hear about the person that had captured the other's heart but they also needed to know who it was for their peace of mind.

Janet took a deep breath and asked "So, Daniel, what is this special woman of yours like?"

"Well, she's beautiful, both inside and out. She's very intelligent and caring, a bit stubborn and she's very funny. I really care about her." He replied, trying to tell her what he liked most about her.

"She sounds as if she's perfect for you."

"She is. I just wish she'd notice me." Daniel said sadly. "And you Janet, what is your special man like?"

"He's very handsome, a good person. He is a bit awkward and shy sometimes. He's very intelligent and passionate about his job. Cassie adores him, which in my book, is very important."

"He's very lucky to have you care about him."

"Thanks, but he just thinks of me as 'Doc Fraiser', not as Janet. Add the fact I just found out he likes someone else and I don't have a chance with him."

"So, what's his name? I know a certain Colonel and a certain Jaffa who would love to help me make him see sense."

Janet shook her head in laughter. "I'm not going to tell you unless you tell me who your mystery woman is. And if she doesn't want to go out with you, a certain Major and I will enlighten her."

"Fine. How about we say it at the same time?"

"Sure."

"You" they said in unison. "Me?"

"Wow, I never thought." Janet began.

"Yeah, neither did I." Daniel replied.

"So what now?"

"Well, we could see where this leads." Daniel offered.

"I'd love that." Janet accepted.

"May I kiss you?" Daniel asked, praying she'd say yes.

"I'd really love it if you would."

With her positive answer, Daniel leaned over and softly brushed his lips with hers. As soon as their lips came into contact he felt a warmth in his chest he had never felt before. As they deepened the kiss, the warmth intensified, and he felt as if he'd come home, 'Sounds like a cliche' the thought popped into his head.

He broke away, feeling deliciously out of breath. "Do you want to stay tonight or do you want me to take you home? If you stay I won't be able to keep myself under control." He admitted to her.

"I'd love to stay." She replied and with that captured his lips in another passionate kiss. When she broke off from that kiss she made her way to his room, he following like a puppy.

******************************************************

Janet woke up the next morning, feeling more content than she had in years. She turned to her lover? boyfriend? significant other? and saw his eyes opened and staring at her.

"Good morning." he said smiling at her.

"Definitely a good morning." She smirked.

"I didn't know you had a rose tattoo, Jan."

"No one did, even though its clearly in my records. Sam doesn't even know."

"Really? I'm honored then."

"Me too. It isn't every day that a sexy archaeologist ends up in bed with me." Janet smiled.

"It can be, that is if you want." Daniel offered, somewhat shyly.

"I want. What about Cassie, though? I know she adores you, but will she be ok with us together? Until we talk with her about us, it isn't possible. But as soon as she knows, you mister are moving in with us, that is if you'd like to."

"I'd love that. I adore Cass and I want what's best for her."

"Lets go over to my, someday our, house and talk to her when she gets home at 11 this morning."

"Sure."

******************************************************

After the talk with Cassie, during which she said 'its about time', Daniel went to his superintendent and gave his two weeks notice. While packing his clothes to take over to Janet's he thought that this was really fast, yet he felt that he was doing the right thing. Actually nothing had ever felt this right.

They decided to keep their relationship quiet on base and only tell General Hammond. Then it hit him...the talent show's finals begin in two hours. He hurried over to his new house and reminded the woman he loved. They drove to the base together, catching Jack O'Neill's attention as they parked Janet's SUV.

"Hey Danny! Why are you driving the Doc's car?"

"She lent it to me this morning so I could do some errands. My car's in the shop, I went to get an oil change yesterday and it turns out I need a new radiator. Anyway, I was running late for the show and when I pulled up to her house to return it, she was standing outside and hopped into the passenger seat, so here we are." Daniel said, proud of the fact he came up with it on short notice.

"I would have lent you my truck." Jack said doubtful of Daniel's story.

"Janet's house is closer to mine than yours." Daniel said. "Its logical I'd ask her."

"True, lets get inside. The show's about to start and I can't wait to see what you two are going to sing now."

The trio walked into the base. Daniel looked over at his lover and smiled, Janet returning the smile with a wink.

******************************************************

This time Daniel was to go first, Janet second, and Sgt. Baxter last.

General Hammond was called away for a meeting so Sam was MC-ing the whole show today. Daniel stood backstage getting more nervous as the minutes before his performance passed. He knew the song he chose would make Jan either kill him or kiss him later.

Sam's voice rang out "And now for our first finalist, Dr. Daniel Jackson of SG-1."

Daniel confidently walked out to the guitar and sat down on the stool. He then began his lead in speech "This next song, like both of the ones I played yesterday, is for the special woman who has captured my heart. She is the proverbial 'one' for me and she reciprocates my feelings" at this a cheer went up "so this song reflects all the things I love about her."

He then began to play _Ain't Nothing 'Bout You_ by Brooks & Dunn.

Once i thought that love was something i could never do
Never knew that i could feel this much
But this yearning in the deep part of my heart for you
Is more than a reaction to your touch
It's a perfect passion and i can't get enough

The way you look, the way you laugh,
The way you love with all you have,
There ain't nothing bout you that don't do something
for me
The way you kiss, the way you cry,
The way you move when you walk by
There's ain't nothing bout you (there ain't nothing
bout you)
That don't do something for me

In my life i've been hammered by some heavy blows
That never knocked me off my feet
All you gotta do is smile at me and down i go
And baby it's no mystery why i surrender
Girl you got everything

The way you look, the way you laugh,
The way you love with all you have,
There ain't nothing bout you that don't do something
for me

The way you kiss, the way you cry,
The way you move when you walk by
There's ain't nothing bout you (there ain't nothing
bout you)
That don't do something for me

I love your attitude, your rose tattoo, your every
thought
Your smile, you lips and girl the list goes on and on
and on

The way you look, the way you laugh,
The way you love with all you have,
There ain't nothing bout you that don't do something
for me
The way you kiss, the way you cry,
The way you move when you walk by
There's ain't nothing bout you (there ain't nothing
bout you)
That don't do something for me

The way you look, the way you laugh,
The way you love with all you have,
Your dance, your drive, you make me feel alive

The way you talk, the way you tease
Right now i think you see
There ain't nothing bout you that don't do something
for me

At the end of his song, he stood up and took a bow. "One more time for Danny Boy!" Sam said.

"SAM! You're spending way too much time with Jack."

"And?"

"That's it, I'm telling Janet to get out the REALLY big needles for your next physical."

Sam paled and Daniel left the stage smirking as he went.

******************************************************

Janet laughed at the look on Sam's face as Daniel threatened to sic her on Sam. She knew when Sam found out that Daniel was her significant other she was in for it so she decided to take as much pleasure in Sam's misery as she could.

Sam's voice interrupted Janet's thoughts. "And now for our other singing Doctor, the aforementioned needle-wielding Dr. Janet Fraiser!"

Janet walked out and sat down at the piano. "Are there any of my nurses here? If so please go down to the infirmary and make a note in Major Carter's chart: Bigger needles." she said, taking pleasure in Sam's face going even whiter. "The song I've chosen is for the special someone I talked about yesterday, though he's now MY special someone. So for all the hardships and the laughter, mister, this ones for you."

She then started to play Lila McCann's _To Get Me To You_.

Well I, I still can remember times
When the night seemed to surround me
I was sure the sun would never shine on me
And I, I thought it my destiny
To walk this world alone
But now you're here with me
Now you're here with me

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to get through
To get me to you
To get me to you

Well I, I still can recall the days
When I had no love around me
Makes me glad for every day I have with you
And I, I look in your eyes and know
I'm right where I belong
And I belong with you
Always belonged with you

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to get through
To get me to you
To get me to you

And if I could I wouldn't change a thing
Wouldn't change a thing baby
Because your love was waiting there for me
Waiting there for me baby

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to get through
To get me to you
To get me to you

She smiled and took a bow. "Once again for Doc Fraiser!"

Janet walked off the stage, going over to Daniel to chat before the announcement of the winner.

"Hey, did you see the look on Sam's face when you told the nurses to note the big needles in her file?"

"Yeah I enjoyed it." Janet replied.

"When are we going to tell them?"

"Soon."

"Ok, I've got to go to the bank for something later, hopefully its open."

"Sure that's fine. I've got the next week off, how about you?"

"Three days, then a two day mission, and probably two days of downtime after that."

"When you're gone, Cass and I will move some stuff for you."

"Sure I'd appreciate it." Daniel replied.

Sam's voice broke them out of their conversation. "Would all finalists please report to the stage?"

Daniel and Janet walked onstage and waited for Sam to announce the winners. "From the comedy category, the winner is... Corp. Randall from the SG-7 Marines. From the music category, the winner is... its a tie! Drs. Jackson and Fraiser!"

Daniel and Janet hugged and then congratulated Corp. Randall. Sam said "Daniel, Janet, the crowd would like to know if you would do a duet."

"Sure" they said in unison.

They walked over to a corner. After a few seconds of discussion they walked over to their respective instruments and began to play _It's Your Love_ by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

Dancin' in the dark
Middle of the night
Takin' your heart
And holdin' it tight

Emotional touch
Touchin' my skin
And askin' you to do
What you've been doin' all over again
Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think I can keep it all in
I just gotta let you know
What it is that won't let me go

CHORUS:

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell i'm under
Oh, it's your love

Better than I was
More than I am
And all of this happened
By takin' your hand
And who I am now
Is who I wanted to be

And now that we're together
I'm stronger than ever
I'm happy and free
Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think I can keep it all in
And if you asked me why I've changed
All I gotta do is say your sweet name

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell i'm under
Oh, it's your love

Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think i can keep it all in
I just gotta let you know
What it is that won't let me go

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell i'm under
Oh, it's your love

It's your love
It's your love

After they had finished, they looked into each other's eyes and they nodded in unison. They crossed the stage to stand face to face. Then Daniel dipped Janet into a deep kiss.

The crowd cheered and quite a few "It's about time"s and "Way to go Doc!"s were heard. Even one "Way to go Spacemonkey!" was uttered by a certain Colonel.

The End
