SPOILERS: Anything with Cassie. 'Heroes' doesn't happen, at least not the way the spoiler shows.
SUMMARY: SG-1, with Janet, goes to a bar, with somewhat interesting results.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own anything. If I did I wouldn't be a poor college student.
AUTHOR'S NOTES: Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa and all that to everyone! The bar's name is a real bar in my hometown so I don't own that either.
Daniel Jackson was bored, to say the least. He had finally caught up on his artifact cataloging and written up the reports, SG-1 was on downtime for at least another week due to Teal'c's visit to his son.
It was some rite of passage for Rya'c and it was two weeks long. Daniel knew he had to leave his office before he went stir crazy.
#############################################
Janet Frasier was also bored out of her mind. No teams were due back for 72 hours and SG-1 was on planet but not in her infirmary, thanks be to God. That team consisted of her worst patients and she was glad to have a break from all the trouble they always got into.
She decided to head up to Sam's lab, hoping to distract the Major from her latest project before Sam collapsed from exhaustion.
When she got there, she was surprised to see that Sam was engrossed not in her work, but in a game on the computer.
"Hey Sam" Janet said brightly.
"Hey Janet, what's up? Anything I can help with?" Sam replied, eager to get the hell out of her lab.
"Nope, sorry Sam. I came up here because I was bored."
"You too?" came a voice from the door.
Sam and Janet turned to see Daniel Jackson leaning on the door frame. Janet mentally sighed, 'he looks so adorable'. She had had a crush on him for a while now, but she had no idea if he felt the same way.
Daniel walked into the room, silently pleased to see the beautiful doctor. 'I wish I knew how she felt about me' he thought. He'd been attracted to her for a while, but put his feelings on hold because he didn't want to ruin their friendship. He held that so dear to him, especially after his ascension and her wounding. 'Thank God she's ok now.'
"What should we do about it?" asked Sam.
"We should go to Hammond and request that he not recall us to base unless its an emergency and then go out and have some fun." Jack O'Neill said as he walked into the room. "Let's face it, there is nothing we can do on base and we are really bored."
"I agree" Daniel said " I could use some fun. There is this new bar Jonas told me about last time he visited."
"Sounds good to me." Sam smiled at her CO. Janet rolled her eyes. Everyone on base knew that Carter and O'Neill were meant for each other. Hell, the general even knew and secretly got them permission to be together unless it affected their work.
Suddenly everyone's eyes were on her and she blushed profusely. "What?" she asked.
"Do you agree or not Janet?" Daniel asked.
"Yeah, sounds like fun. I'll go to the General and tell him for our mental health we are not to be allowed on base for 48 hours." Janet said smiling. "How about we all meet at my house at seven if I manage to pull this off?"
"Sounds good" The other three chorused.
With that she walked out of the room, Daniel watching her go intently.
#########################################
Sam Carter sighed in relief. Janet had managed to get them free time off base. Lord knew she hadn't been to her apartment for a while. Sam pulled up her Honda Accord behind Janet's Chevy Blazer at 6:30, knowing she would need to help Janet decide what to wear to impress Daniel.
Sam knew that Janet liked him, hell she was the one to get Jan to admit it. She also knew that Danny has begun to have feelings for the Doc too, she just couldn't understand why they were beating around the bush.
She shook her head and knocked on the door. Cassie opened it, calling out to Janet "Mom, Sam's here!"
"Send her up here Cass."
"So Cass, looking forward to being alone for awhile?"
"With Mom so nervous, yeah."
"I'd better go and help her before she works herself into a frenzy."
"Please!"
Sam went up the stairs, finding Janet in her robe destroying her closet in order to find a perfect outfit. Sam picked up a black skirt and a lower cut green top and handed them to the frantic woman.
"Here, you'll look great in these."
"You sure Sam?" Janet asked.
"Yeah, Daniel won't know what hit him."
"I just hope I can tell him how I feel."
"Jan, you will. Maybe not tonight, but you will."
The doorbell rang at five minutes to seven. Cassie opened the door for the two men and smiled.
"Are they ready yet, Cass?" Jack asked.
"Should be, but I'll check."
"No need to, Cassie." Janet's voice floated down from the top of the stairs. "We're ready" she stated as she made her way down the stairs.
As Daniel caught sight of her, he felt himself go breathless. She looked beautiful, he thought. 'I've never seen her dressed like this, she's absolutely stunning.'
"Janet, you look wonderful." he managed to get out, pleased he hadn't stuttered.
"Thanks, Daniel." she said with a slight blush.
Sam slowly followed Janet down the stairs, also wearing a skirt, although hers was brown and her top was red. Jack had forgotten how beautiful his 2IC really was and complemented her as well.
With the pleasantries exchanged, and a few rules laid out to Cassandra by her mother, the foursome headed out to -The Palace Saloon-.
################################################
When they got to the bar, they ordered an appetizer and a round of beers. Knowing that Daniel wasn't a drinker by nature, they left him the task of designated driver thus cutting him off at two beers.
What none of the group knew was that tonight was karaoke night. Soon after they got there, people began getting up to sing.
"Daniel, you didn't tell me that there would be karaoke, for cryin' out loud!" Jack said.
"I didn't know Jack, Jonas never mentioned that they had a karaoke night." Daniel replied.
"I have an idea," Sam said, hoping to break the silence. "Why don't we sing a few songs, ya know, let loose a little."
"I'm in" Janet said.
"Me too, I haven't done it in a while." Daniel said.
Reluctantly, Jack agreed and set off to find a songlist and a sign-up sheet. When he returned, he found the other three talking about how they should go about this.
"Well, we could sing two songs as duets and then one song each." suggested Janet.
"Sounds good" the rest of SG-1 agreed.
They then started working out the order. It was decided that since it was the ladies who wanted to do this in the first place, they should do a song as a duet first. The two guys would do their duet next. From there they drew straws, with Janet going first, then Sam, then Jack, then Daniel last.
They agreed that until the song played, no one but the singer knew what it would be. Each person perused the songlist and found their match. Finally it was time, time to reveal a few non-platonic feelings through song.
###########################################
Janet and Sam walked up to the stage. They decided that Sam would announce the song's dedication and Janet would sing the first part.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, my friend and I would like to dedicate this next song to two very important men in our lives."
With that the strains of Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand's duet _Tell Him_ started.
Janet: I'm scared
So afraid to show I care
Will he think me weak
If I tremble when I speak
Oooh - what if
There's another one he's thinking of
Maybe he's in love
I'd feel like a fool
Life can be so cruel
I don't know what to do
Sam: I've been there
With my heart out in my hand
But what you must understand
You can't let the chance
To love him pass you by
Should I
Both: Tell him
Tell him that the sun and moon
Rise in his eyes
Reach out to him
And whisper
Tender words so soft and sweet
Hold him close to feel his heart beat
Love will be the gift you give yourself
Sam: Touch him
With the gentleness you feel inside
Your love can't be denied
The truth will set you free
You'll have what's mean to be
All in time you'll see
Janet: I love him
Of that much I can be sure
I don't think I could endure
If I let him walk away
When I have so much to say
I'll
Both: Chorus
Sam: Love is light that surely glows
In the hearts of those who know
It's a steady flame that grows
Feed the fire with all the passion you can show
Tonight love will assume its place
This memory time cannot erase
Blind faith will lead love where it has to go
Never let him go
After the song finished, the ladies were treated to a lot of applause and quite a few wolf-whistles. They made their way to the table, knowing the guys would be gone, having making their way up to the stage.
##########################################
The guys were on stage, this time with Jack making the introduction and Daniel beginning.
"This song is for a few special ladies, so please enjoy." The song _All for Love_ by Rod Stewart, Sting, and Bryan Adams began to play.
Daniel: When it's love you give
Jack: I'll be a man of good faith.
Daniel: then in love you live.
Jack: I'll make a stand. I won't break.
I'll be the rock you can build on,
Daniel: be there when you're old,
Jack: to have and to hold.
Daniel: When there's love inside
I swear I'll always be strong.
then there's a reason why.
Jack: I'll prove to you we belong.
I'll be the wall that protects you
from the wind and the rain,
from the hurt and pain.
Both: Let's make it all for one and all for love.
Let the one you hold be the one you want,
the one you need,
'cause when it's all for one it's one for all.
When there's someone that should know
then just let your feelings show
and make it all for one and all for love.
Jack: When it's love you make
Daniel: I'll be the fire in your night.
Jack: then it's love you take.
Daniel: I will defend, I will fight.
Jack: I'll be there when you need me.
Daniel: When honor's at stake,
this vow I will make:
Both: that it's all for one and all for love.
Let the one be the one you want,
the one you need,
'cause when it's all for one it's one for all.
When there's someone that should know
then just let your feelings show
and make it all for one and all for love.
Daniel: Don't lay our love to rest
'cause we could stand up to you test.
We got everything and more than we had planned,
more than the rivers that run the land.
We've got it all in our hands.
Both: Now it's all for one and all for love.
It's all for love.
Let the one you hold be the one you want,
the one you need,
'cause when it's all for one it's one for all.
It's one for all.
When there's someone that should know
then just let your feelings show.
When there's someone that you want,
when there's someone that you need
let's make it all, all for one and all for love.
They walked off stage, passing Janet who was going up for her solo. "Good Luck, Janet." Daniel said.
"Thanks Daniel" she replied and continued on her way.

"Hi again. This song is for a very special man. I heard this song on my daughter's stereo and felt it described how I felt about him. So here goes."
Mandy Moore's _Crush_ began to play.
You know everything that I'm afraid of
You do everything i wish i did
Everybody wants you, everybody loves you
I know i should tell you how i feel
I wish everyone would disappear
Every time time you call me, I'm too scared to be me
And I'm too shy to say
Ooh, I got a crush on you
I hope you feel the way that i do
I get a rush
When I'm with you
Ooh, I've got a crush on you
A crush on you
You know, I'm the one that you can talk to
And sometimes you tell me thing that i don't want to know
I just want to hold you
And you say exactly how you feel about her
And I wonder, could you ever think of me that way
Ooh, I got a crush on you
I hope you feel the way that i do
I get a rush
When I'm with you
Ooh, I've got a crush on you
A crush on you
Ooh, I wish i could tell somebody
But there's no one to talk to, nobody knows
I've got a crush on you
A crush on you, I got a crush
You say everything that no one says
But i feel everything that you're afraid to feel
I will always want you, I will always love you
I've got a crush...
She hopped off stage and walked back to the table, ordering another beer as she went. She saw Sam going up onstage and avoided Daniel's questioning look as best she could, thinking he didn't feel the same way.
#######################################
Sam Carter was the most nervous she had ever been in her life. She was about to basically confess feelings for her CO. 'Here goes nothing' she thought.
"This next song is for the special man in my life. Jack, this one's for you."
Carolyn Dawn Johnson's _Complicated_ began to play as Jack O'Neill finally got a clue as to how his major felt about him. He decided then to screw the regs, its been long enough. He then went to the bartender and requested to change songs, all the while captivated by Sam singing.
I'm so scared that the way that I feel,
Is written all over my face,
When you walk into the room I wanna find a hiding
place,
We used to laugh, we used to hug,
The way that old friends do,
But now a smile and a touch of your hand,
Just make me come unglued,
It's such a contradiction, do I lie or tell the truth,
Is it fact or fiction the way I feel for you.
CHORUS:
It's so complicated, I'm so frustrated,
I wanna hold you close, I wanna push you away,
I wanna make you go, I wanna make you stay,
Should I say it, should I tell you how I feel,
Oh, I want you to know,
But then again I don't,
It's so complicated.
Just when I think I'm under control,
I think I finally got a grip,
Another friend tells me that,
My name is always on your lips,
They say I'm more than just a friend,
They say I must be blind,
Well I admit that I've seen you watch me,
From the corner of your eye,
Oh it's so confusing I wish you'd just confess,
But think of what I'd be losing,
If your answer wasn't yes.
REPEAT CHORUS
I hate it 'cause I've waited so long for someone like
you,
Should I say it,
Should I tell you how I feel,
Oh I want you to know,
But then again I don't,
It's so complicated.
Sam left the stage, feeling like a weight had been lifted off of her. Jack had already left the table for his performance by the time she had swung by the bar and picked up another drink. She wondered what he would sing, and if it would be dedicated to her.
##################################################
Jack wiped his hands on his pants and began to speak. "This song is going out to the woman who taught me how to love again and who makes me feel as if I could conquer anything. Sam, this one's for you."
Lonestar's _Amazed_ began to play and Sam thought she would faint. 'He feels the same way!' she thought and started to grin.
Every time our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts
I can see your dreams
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you
The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me
Baby you surround me
You touch every place in my heart
Oh it feels like the first time every time
I wanna spend the whole night in your eyes
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you
Every little thing that you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Oh, every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you
Jack ran off the stage and drew his Major, his Sam, into a deep kiss that drew whistles from the crowd. When she finally could breathe again, she told Jack, "We'll continue this later, Daniel's up next, then we can go home."
All three of the table's occupants were wondering what Daniel would sing, and would it be to Janet? Sam hoped so, for Janet's sake.
#######################################
Daniel Jackson stood up on the stage, working up the nerve to say what he wanted, no needed to say to Janet.
"This song is dedicated to the most beautiful person I know, even when she doesn't think she is. Jan, this one's for you."
Aaron Lines's song _You Can't Hide Beautiful_ began to play and Daniel put every emotion he ever felt for the woman who started out as his friend.
She says don't stare at me
She's afraid that I might see
Those 5 extra pounds she talks about
I don't know what she's talking about
She looks through magazines
With every page she dreams of
Looking like somebody else
I wish she wasn't so hard on herself
Then she falls asleep with just my t-shirt on
But even when her hair's messed up and her make-up's
gone
You can't hide Beautiful
You can't hide wonderful
There's nothing that she has to do
It just comes natural
She makes it look easy
I love what she does to me
No way to disguise
The way that she shines
You can't hide beautiful
She can take a simple dress
Put it on and turn some heads
Everytime she moves she gets me
She doesn't even know she's sexy
And the way she thinks sometimes
Out of nowhere blows my mind
She makes me laugh and makes me dream
I love the way she looks at things
A little piece of heaven god gave to this world
She might think she's just an ordinary girl
You can't hide Beautiful
You can't hide wonderful
There's nothing that she has to do
It just comes natural
She makes it look easy
I love what she does to me
No way to disguise
The way that she shines
You can't hide beautiful
Daniel left the stage and was met by silence from his friends, all of whom were stunned by his heartfelt dedication and song.
Still silent, the group left the bar. Daniel dropped off Sam and Jack at his house, both of them saying they needed to talk and Sam arranging to pick up her car from Janet's the next day.
Daniel and Janet made their way to her house still in silence, taking in the events of the night. When they pulled up to the house, Janet's car was gone which meant Cassie had gone to a friend's house and wouldn't be back for a while.
Janet decided to take another chance. "Daniel, would you like to come in?" she asked.
"Sure!" he smiled.
They made their way to the front door, then into Janet's living room.
"Would you like some coffee, then we can talk about what happened tonight, ok?" she said a little uncertainly.
"That's fine, Janet." replied Daniel who was inwardly absolutely scared out of his mind.
After the coffee was ready, Janet slipped off her heels and made herself comfortable on the couch. A few minutes of awkward silence passed before she said "So..."
"So...how long have you felt this way, Janet?" Daniel asked, deciding to be assertive for once when it came to a discussion with a woman.
"A long time, Daniel. I've just never done anything about it because I wasn't sure of how you felt."
"That's why I've not said anything either, at least lately. I was attracted to you from the day we met, but I had Sha're and after she died I needed to sort out how I felt about everything. You were so great, not intruding, just being there for me and supporting
me and slowly but surely the attraction came back and it grew from there. I meant what I said at the bar, Janet. You are the most beautiful person, inside and out, that I've ever known."
"Oh, Daniel. That's the most wonderful thing anyone has ever said to me."
"Well, if you want, I'll say it more often."
"I would love that."
Daniel screwed up his courage and asked " May I kiss you?"
"Please do!" Janet replied.
He leaned in and gently kissed her. As their lips touched, the kiss turned passionate and they made their way upstairs, where a very surprised Cassie found them the next morning.
The end.
