I don't care how you get here
Just get here if you can

Take a sled and slide down slope
Into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedcote
Cross the border in a blaze of hope

Just get here if you can

There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had the way
Surely you'd be closer
I need you closer

You can windsurf into my life
Take me up on a carpet ride
You can make it in a big balloon
But you'd better make it soon
You can reach me by caravan
Cross the desert like an Arab man
I don't care how you get here
Just get here if you can

Chapter Ten

"How in heaven's name could you became such a stubborn gal?" Jack
asked Anne.
" I've got a good teacher" she retorted, as they were walking down
the ramp.
General Hammond stood there as rooted to the spot. Jack and Anne
having a quarrel was something he had never imagined.
"What happened?" he asked, but nobody seemed to take notice of his
query.
" And the shower's ours! C'mon, Sam!" she hauled a perplexed Sam
after herself, totally ignoring the good general.
" Fine!" Jack yelled after them and stormed out of the gate-room. He
didn't even seem to notice the presence of General Hammond.
Teal'c stood face to face with him, and he could see that the Jaffa
was very confused. Anyway, he asked him if he knew what happened.
" I don't know the reason of their current behaviour, General
Hammond, sir."
" Debriefing in one hour, and tell them that I want answers!"
" Yes, sir" Teal'c bowed his head and left the gate-room in a more
decent manner than his teammates did before.

***************

Sam already left the infirmary, but Anne was still lingering there,
when Jack and Teal'c arrived after their showers. She told Sam that
she were waiting for Janet, wanting to ask her for a lift to home.
Sam knew that Anne knew that they had a debriefing ahead, so she
assumed that Anne was waiting there for Jack. She didn't want to be
involved this time.
" What is she doing here?" Jack asked Janet rudely, seeing Anne
sitting on one of the examination beds.
" I guess she wants to speak to you, Colonel" Janet frowned. She knew
that Anne wasn't as angelic as she looked like and that her
stubbornness could try the patience of a saint when she wanted, but
the Colonel's tone still wasn't of her liking.
" What's up?" Jack yelled over to her, while Janet was taking blood
from him.
" I've had enough of your overprotectiveness, SIR!" she began in
medias res. " I'm not a baby anymore! Don't dare to smile, Janet,
that goes for ya, too! Although currently I'm only mad at Colonel
O'Neill."
" I told you several times to call me Jack" he said... exhausted?
Janet noticed astonished.
" Familiarity breeds contempt, sir. Don't ya think?" she asked back,
and somehow Jack knew that she was hinting on something else.
" I'm not overprotective!"
Only a snort came as reply.
" I'm not..."
" Of course you are! I always follow your orders and suggestions, and
in return you should try to trust me and follow my suggestions, even,
with all due respect, sir, if I tell you to shut up."
" What??!!"
" I'll tell you, Janet, what happened and then you could judge by
yourself that his overprotectiveness could have got us into a lot of
trouble."
" But I'll tell my version first."
" I will tell what happened exactly" Teal'c intervened and after the
two parties agreed, he began to tell the story.
" We had arrived planetside at 1535, Earth time."
" Oh, please, Teal'c, skip the Adam and Eve part!" Jack complained.
Anne counted to ten twice and then turned to Teal'c.
" Please, proceed."
" Yes" the Jaffa nodded. " We met the natives after a twenty minutes
march through dense forest. Ms David bowed her head to a young woman
and she bowed, too. Then they began to speak. Ms David translated us
what they were talking about. Everything had gone right until the
warriors arrived."
" Warriors?" Janet asked.
" Armed to their teeth" Jack informed her.
" They meant no threat to us, Janet" Anne explained.
" I have to agree with Ms David. O'Neill stepped in front of her and
then Ms David had a long conversation with the young woman, which she
did not translate for us."
" Oh, I can tell you what we were talking about. She invited me and
Colonel O'Neill to their annual feast. A feast for married couples."
" What?" Jack asked astonished.
" She assumed by your behaviour that we were involved."
" And? What harm could it have done? We all knew that we are no
couple. You are not interested in me that way and vica versa."
" Of course, WE know, but they didn't."
" What should have we done? A kiss?"
" Not only" she shook her head. " Colonel, they had a rite for that
feast. The couples have to dance with each other."
" I know I'm a horrible dancer, but..."
" Naked" she interupted him in midsentence.
" WHAT??!!"
" Yes, sir. And if we hadn't done that, they could have became very
unpleasant."
" What could have they done? You said that they were no match for us."
" Sure, sir. But they could have made our way to the Gate harder. And
I have to remember you that we wanted an alliance with them."
" We could have danced and then forget in the next moment."
" Teal'c, I think you should go ahead and tell General Hammond that
we'll be there soon."
" Yes, Ms David."
" And stop calling me like that, my name's Anne!"
" Yes, Ms David" Teal'c nodded and left the infirmary.
" See, he won't call you Anne till you don't call me Jack."
" And I won't call you Jack, sir, till you don't call ALL your
teammates by first names" she retorted, making Janet smile an ear to
ear smile. " So back to our recent problem. As we were two female and
two male they assumed that I belong to you and Sam belongs to Teal'c"
she said and then waited till realization sunk in.
" Right" she nodded seriously then. " See, Colonel. At first sight we
are four warriors. I carry a weapon and am dressed just as you. That
means that I could take care of myself. But if you are playing the
overprotective, they assume that you are my mate, husband, whatever.
And I don't want that. I don't want to wake up and find myself next
to you in a bed because of a native aphrodiziacum. You know too good
that out there are some really strange folks with more strange
tranditions, foods, drinks and all that jazz. I want to be no victim
of them."
" I see. I try to get rid of it."
" Promised?" Anne asked him, grinning.
" Promised" Jack grinned back.
" Are you two all right?" Janet asked happily.
" Yeap" they said and jumped off the examination beds in the same
moment.
" I want to know one more thing, Anne" Jack turned to her.
" That would be?"
" What did you tell that girl? How were you able to convince her not
to make us dance naked?"
" I told her that you were my brother."
" That's why I had to take off my cap and my sunglasses?"
" Exactly" she nodded. " Can we leave now, Janet?"
" Sure" she nodded and smiled after them as they were walking out of
her infirmary, arguing about videos and popcorn. Everything seemed to
be normal again.

Chapter Eleven

" Okay, where is Dad?" Jack looked down on his wrist and sighed. They
had been waiting for Jacob's arrival for more than fifteen minutes.
Anne could tell that he was getting impatient. Certainly it didn't
help that it was raining. She then looked at Sam and noticed how
worried she looked like. She wondered when Jack will notice that.
" Don't worry, Major" Jack turned to Sam in that moment. " Anne, you
take Teal'c and head that way" he showed at the little path leading
through the forest. " Stay in contact."
" Yes, sir" Anne nodded, earning a grim facial statement. She
ignored it and took point. She didn't have to turn around to know
that Teal'c was following her.
They were marching in silence for more than ten minutes, when radio
statics mad them stop. Anne pulled out her radio.
" Anne, come in!"
" Anne here. What's wrong?"
" General Hammond says that Jacob had arrived at base ten minutes
ago. He didn't set a meeting. Head back to the Gate! O'Neill over and
out!"
" Roger, over" Anne nodded, then turned to Teal'c. " We are heading
back, Teal'c."
He only nodded and waited till Anne put back her backpack on her back.
Jack and Sam had been waiting for almost twenty minutes for them,
before they called General Hammond. It was still raining.
" Where are they?"
" I have no idea, sir" Jack shook his had, letting some raindrops fly
around his face. He hardly tried not to sound worried.
" All right, Colonel, get them back as soon as you can! Should I send
SG-6 over?"
" No, sir" Jack shook his head and was thankful that General Hammond
didn't call them back. " C'mon, Major, you heard the general, we have
to find them ASAP."
" Sir, wouldn't it be wiser to call for SG-6?" she asked, while
pulling a wet fringe out of her eyes.
" No, Sam, I'll find them" Jack set off, squelching.

***************

One hour later SG-6 accompanied by SG-10 arrived on PYX-313. It
stopped raining twenty minutes ago, but the ground was muddy and Jack
and Sam were still wet-soaked.
" Where is Anne, sir?" Major Gabriel Bond asked Jack.
" Honestly, I haven't the faintest idea. It seems like they
disappeared without any trace. I wonder how could they do that in
this weather."
" From where?" Gabriel asked.
" I only found her handheld radio" Jack showed the object up and then
led the other two SG temas to the spot from where Anne and Teal'c was
taken.
Gabriel was as perplexed as Jack.
" We'll take this way" he then showed at the little path, running
alongside the little stream.
" Okay, we ar taking the other" Lt.Colonel Connor MacNeill pointed at
the path leading towards what seemed like a clearing. "Sir?"
" I'm going with you. Major?" he then turned to Sam.
" I'm going with SG-6, sir."
Somewhat later Sam's voice came through the radio.
" Sir, come in!"
" Yes, Major?"
" There is a little problem, sir."
" What kind of problem?"
" Major Bond is disappeared, sir."
" WHAT??!!"
" Yes, sir. He was our back up and now we can't find him anywhere."
" Major, tell me you're only kidding."
" I'm completely serious, sir."
" Stay where you are and keep eye on the others!"
" Aye, sir!"

***************

" Hi, Anne! What are you doing there?"
" Whaddaya think? I'm training for the gold medal in the rings."
Gabriel let out a chortle, then was pushed down on his knees and at
last handcuffed to the ground.
Teal'c was hanging on the wall, his legs loose. He seemed to use all
his strength to hold himself. Anne was dangling back and forth from
the ceiling. Under her there was a big cauldron full off boiling
water.
" Boy this is getting annoying. My head is cold and my feet are
stewed."
" You should leap over to Teal'c" Gabriel suggested. " You could put
your feet under his back, that way he could keep you."
" He needs his strength to carry himself."
" I could also hold you."
" I know, but I don't want. Maybe later."
After another ten minutes had passed, Anne felt herself like after a
fifteen miles long run, uphill.
" Gabriel, are you awake?"
" Sure" he moaned. " Don't tell me, you have a plan" he rather stated
than asked.
" Of course, I have. Those are handcuffs used by the police on Earth.
You can unlock them with a wire."
" And from where am I supposed to get a wire?"
" It's stuck in my arm. Waitaminute!"
" What are you doing?" Gabriel asked, but didn't get an answer. "
What are you doing, Anne?" he repeated his query.
" Unsticking the wire. I will leap over to Teal'c, he will hold me
and I'm going to let the wire fall right into your hand.
" This is a very risky and vague plan, Anne."
" Stop complaining, at least I have one."
" Right, as always."
" Almost always" Anne corrected him. " Teal'c?"
" I am ready, Ms David."
" Would you mind to call me Anne??" she bursted out.
" I am ready, Anne."
" Thank you. Okay, I'm pulling the wire out now. I'll moan loudly
when I'm done."
" Okay" Gabriel said.
Anne rather felt than saw Teal'c nodding. She had to concentrate hard
not to cry out loud after the wire was out of her upper arm unless
she wanted all the trouble to be for nothing.
She had lept over to Teal'c and put her feet under his back, then
looked down and let the wire fall.
" Got it?" she asked Gabriel.
" Sure" Gabriel nodded. " Anne you are a genius!"
" Sure" Anne sighed. " But will you, please, hurry up! This is an
extremly exhausting position , for both of us."
" I'm free!" he announced cheerfully one moment later. " See what a
misspent youth is good for."
He looked up and faced a problem.
" Okay" Anne sighed, "I'm dangling again."
After freeing Teal'c Gabriel was wondering how he will be able to
free Anne.
" Anne, what should we do now?"
" First put somehow the cauldron away" she said, sweat running down
her face. Her fatigues were just as wet-soaked.
" And now?" Gabriel asked after he and Teal'c managed to pull the
cauldron away.
" And now you are going for help. The others should be still here."

Chapter Twelve

" God help those who help themselves, sir."
" He wanted to find you alone" Sam whispered in her ear.
" Sorry" Anne grinned at her CO.
" Let's head home, campers!" Jack gave the order, relieved to see
them in one piece again. He offered Anne his arm, cause she was
limping. She arrived at the ground unlucky, while jumping down from
the ceiling.
When they arrived at the DHD, Anne leaned to the device and wanted to
start dialing, when she noticed something was wrong.
" Sir, we have got a problem here" she called over to Jack, who was
talking to Gabriel.
" What's wrong?"
" The symbol of the cancer isn't in the right place, sir" she
informed him.
" Is there any significant meaning of this, Major?"
" I don't know, sir" Sam shook her head.
" We have two M.A.L.P.s, sir" Gabriel pointed at the object.
" Okay" Jack agreed and sighed deeply. " Have you noticed that you
are cursed, Anne?" he turned to Anne, while Sam was trying to connect
the M.A.L.P.s, so that they could see what was awaiting them on the
other side of the gate.
" Ever since we met those poachers in the forest" she nodded. Out of
four missions she only had one, on which she wasn't hurt. That was
the one when she and Jack that disagreement.
" But why?" Jack asked her curiously.
" I don't know, but I'd like to."
" The M.A.L.P. shows a great plain, sir."
" Not the gate room?"
" No, sir" Gabriel shook his head.
" Let's be optiomistic, Major. Maybe they have the right kind of DHD."

***************

General Hammond was walking down the corridors of Level 23. He had a
very hard task to fulfill. These times he hated his job.
" General Hammond" Dr Jackson greeted him surprised.
He was sitting on one of the examintaion beds, Janet standing in
front of him, in her hand his case-chart.
General Hammond's face showed that he didn't expected Daniel to be
there. It would be now even harder.
" Sir?" Janet asked him unsurely. " Is Anne okay?"
" Doctor, I..."
" I know that they are alive, sir. I know that" Janet said, her
fingers clutching Daniel's so tight that both of their hands were
white.
" What happened?" Daniel asked General Hammond, while soothingly
caressing Janet's hand.
" SG-6, SG-10 were there to help them. They are disappeared. Without
any trace."
" We have to find them!" Janet said resolutely. She couldn't imagine
to tell Cassie that her best friends are gone.
" Doctor Frasier, I had sent SG-5 after them, but they found nothing.
But there was something interesting, though. The second M.A.L.P.
wasn't there anymore."
" They are alive" Janet said happyly.
" Doctor, I fear..."
" Unless I saw their bodies, I don't except that they are dead, sir."
" Good, then all we have to do is waiting."
" Do you have to list them as MIA, sir?"
" Yes, Dr Jackson" the general nodded, and Daniel could see that he
was just as sad as Janet.
He left the infirmary and Daniel still reassuringly caressing Janet's
hand thought over the situation.
" What's wrong, Daniel?" Janet asked him, seeing him brooding over
something.
" I could never forgive myself if something happened to Anne. I
brought her here."
" She can't be dead" Janet said and took over Daniel's fromer role.
Now she tried to reassure Daniel.
" I don't think that she is dead, Janet. But there is one thing worse
than death" he shuddered.
Janet bent down to Daniel that her eyes were on the same level with
Daniel's. She looked him into the eyes. Daniel wanted to turn his
head away, but Janet hold it tight, cupping his face between her
palms.
" Daniel, I'm sure she..."
" How could you be sure?"
" I feel it. Trust me, Daniel, she is okay. They are okay. I know
what! They had just visited another reality, that's why we cannot
find them."

***************

After arriving at the other side a man clad in familiar fatigues
greeted them
" They are here, sir" he announced through his hand.
Anne's curiousity got the best of her and reached her hand out to see
what's on the hand of the soldier.
" It's a mini radio, ma'am" the young sergeant informed her.
" Anne" she corrected him absent-mindedly. " How sci-fi like!" she
grinned.
" Actually..." he wanted to explain, but was interrupted by the arrival
of his CO. He sprang to attention and saluted him.
" At ease, sergeant!"
The others were only staring at him, while he pulled out his handheld
radio.
" Oh my God!" Gabriel exclaimed as the only one able to speak.
Lt.Colonel Connor MacNeill stood in front of them. And Anne silently
corrected herself, because he wasn't Lt.Colonel anymore.
" Welcome to our reality, sir!" MacNeill saluted to Jack. " If you'd
follow me, please."
" At last I'll be able to meet myself. It seems that in every other
reality I'm dead."
" Actually, sir..."
" Dead?" Jack sighed disappointed.
" MIA, sir."
" Oh, that gives hope" Jack smiled.
" Am I here?" Anne asked Connor.
" Certainly. You're running the base at this time."
" Me?"
" Yes, but you'll tell yourself everything. Can you walk?"
" Teal'c will help me."
Connor casted an unfathomable gaze at Anne, who was now leaning on
Teal'c's arm.
" Is he here?" Anne must have asked him again, he judged by her look.
" No, he is looking for General O'Neill and Colonel Carter-O'Neill."
" Another Carter-O'Neill?" Gabriel tried to keep a serious face, but
miserably failed.
Sam and Jack were simply ignoring his remark.
" Am I here?" Gabriel asked.
" Just arrived back."
" Where was he?" Anne asked curiously.
" On a mission, testing someone."
" You mean another Anne" Anne guessed.
" Yes. He tested you, too."
" I know" Anne touched the scar above her brow. " But why?"
" You felt yourself responsible for your friends being captured."
" I see."
" What does that mean?" Jack asked slightly confused.
" Anne sent Major Bond to test her other selves, sir" Sam asnwered
him.
" And?"
" None of them failed" Connor grinned.

Chapter Thirteen

" Connor, come in!" Anne heard her own voice through the radio.
" I'm on my way back to the base. They are with me. Anne sprained her
ankle and Major Bond has a wound on his arm."
" I'll tell Janet. Over."
" Janet is here, too?" Sam asked Connor.
" Yes" his eyes darkened. " Earth was overrun by the Goa'uld. Before
that we could ship out more than 100,000 people. We've used all the
three Satargates. The Asgard, the Tok'ra and the Tollans had helped
us. We are living now on two planets. There are two Bases. The other
is run by General Hammond, this was under the command of General
O'Neill. Till we cannot find them, Anne is the CO of this Base."
" Why?" Anne asked.
" You have that certain diplomatic feeling with our allies" Connor
smiled at her.
" Why are two bases necessary?" Sam asked.
" From the other base we are running operations to free Earth and to
rescue as many as we can. SG-3, 4, 5 and SG-11, 13, 14 are there. The
third wasn't discovered by the Goa'uld. The others are here. We are
searching for allies, technologies, the original goals. We are here"
he announced.
The others only noticed now, that there were a little colony in front
of their eyes. It was a tremendous view. Among little houses,
obviously run by solar energy, stood a huge building. The command
centre. Two women, accompanied by four men just stepped out of the
building. All of them wore fatigues, but one of the women had a lab
coat on.
" Hi!" AU Anne greeted them, she seemed at least five years older
than her counterpart. Sam felt sorry for her. Janet was beaming, Anne
noticed happily, then her gaze fell on the soldier standing next to
AU Anne.
She hurried towards the man and knocked him down. While pinning him
to the ground she hissed the words into his ear.
" If you'd ever try to hurt Jack or Teal'c, no matter what reality,
you could be surprised."
" I'll never do it again, I promise" AUGabriel grinned up at her.
" Good" Anne stood up and helped him up, too.
" Are you ready, Anne?" Jack asked her.
" Sure" her face contorted with pain, as her sprained ankle suddenly
made itself recognized.
" Your ankle must hurt" AUJanet came to her side.
" Like hell" Anne casted a twisted grin at her.
" Janet, please, take her and Major Bond to the infirmary. Connor,
please, lead SG-6 and SG-10 to our guest quarters. Gabriel?"
" I'm staying with you, you were telling me about Teal'c's recent
mission" that remark stopped the little group. Anne, still leaning on
Teal'c made them stop.
" General Hammond suggested to call him back. He says, he will list
them KIA tomorrow."
" I have an idea" Anne started.
Two Gabriels sighed loud.
" What?" AU Anne asked her counterpart.
" It depends on Colonel O'Neill and Sam."
" What's it?" Jack asked.
" Anna could convince General Hammond not to list them as KIA if we
would stay here for 48 hours."
Jack, Sam, AU Anne and AU Janet nodded, the others looked at Anne
questioningly.
" I think you called this phenomenon entropic cascade failure,
MajorCarter."
" Exactly, Teal'c. And I'll do it" Sam looked at AU Anne.
" Thank you, but I'm sure Teal'c will find them this time."
" But..." Jack wanted to drop in his two cents, but was interrupted by
AU Anne.
" No objection, Jack."
Hearing his name from Anne took Jack by surprise. AU Janet ushered
the injuries and their companions into the infirmary. And while Jack
was still brooding over what happened, another familiar faces
appeared.

***************

" They are not ours" he heard a girl's voice. Turning on his heels,
he saw Daniel and Cassie approaching them. Daniel was carrying a baby
in his arms. The baby was crying and Daniel bent over her, whispering
to the baby.
" Ssh, little one" he heard him. " Anne, would you mind to take her
for a minute?"
" Sure" AU Anne reached out for the baby and in the moment she took
her, she stopped crying. " Hi, precious" she smiled at the baby and
the baby smiled at her back. In this very moment Jack knew exactly
whose baby this was. Her eyes and her smile betrayed her.
" Can I take her?"
" Yes" AU Anne gave her the baby and looked smiling as Jack bent over
the baby.
" Hello, precious" he whispered. " I bet your Daddy is very proud of
you" he whispered.
" He indeed is" Daniel grinned at Jack.
" What's her name?" he asked from Anne.
" Joanna. Daniel, where is Asa?"
" She is with Rya'c" Cassie answered.
AU Anne nodded and then turned back to Jack.
" Jack, you can stay with Daniel and the girls, if you want. Sam?"
she asked her after Jack's nod.
" I'm staying with you" Sam said. " I want to ask Major Bond
something."
" Good, Gabriel, you could accompany us to my office."
" Yeap" he nodded, casting a last look at Jack. He winked at Sam, who
was looking at Jack. She tore her gaze away and followed Anne into
her office.
" What did you want to ask me, Major Carter?"
" How were you able to come to Earth?"
" On one of their missions I met SG-6 and I took Major Bond's place.
I brought the little version of the quantum mirror with me. You, I
mean yourself in this reality already figured out that we can travel
through it, too. I placed it in the forest and then returned here."
" How could you know they were going to that forest?"
" Colonel O'Neill told me once in the mess hall."
" I see."
" While I was in your reality, your Major Bond was here under
sedatives. He couldn't remember this place. I let him go home, after
I told him everything I lived through while I was with you. With the
help of the Tok'ra we are able to modify someone's memory."
" Can I ask you something?" she then turned to AU Anne.
" Why I'm doing this testing?"
" I know that. I know you, you know."
" Sure" she grinned back.
" I wanted to ask you, who was your most powerful allies?"
" The Asgard."
" And the most reliable?"
" They are called the Gjars."
" We don't know them."
" I'll tell you the adress later, but Anne should be there when you
speak to them."
" Okay" Sam nodded.

***************

" Watcher Three to Seeker One, come in!"
" Seeker One here, what's up?"
" Seeker Two is back, Ma'am!"
Anne dashed out of her office, it had a direct door to the field
before the command centre. AU Gabriel turned to Sam.
" Do you wanna see something funny?"
" What?"
" It's a ritual between them. Look!"
AU Teal'c appeared and he was running, too.
Sam placed an astonished look at AU Gabriel, who was only grinning.
" Okay, running Anne, running Teal'c" AU Gabriel commented what they
saw. " And nooow, stop."
Teal'c and Anne both stopped in the same moment.
" There's always two feet between them.
Teal'c now lowered his head and started to speak.
" What is he doing?" Sam asked.
" Debriefing her. She wants to hear every little detail."
" And he is able to speak that long?" Sam asked astonished. " What is
she doing now?"
AU Anne reached out her arm and took one of the buttons on Teal'c's
fatigues in her hand.
" She is fidgeting with his buttons. She always does this. Always."
" Why?"
" She is unsure. She's just asked him if he had find you."
" And what comes now?" Sam pushed her doubts, if this wasn't a break
into someone else's private life, aside and observed them with
growing interest. They looked so cute together.
" If he hadn't, then she will walk back to us. If the answer is yes?
Well it was never yes before. But I guess she would do something like
a hug or a ..."
Suddenly Anne flung her arms around Teal'c's neck and he pulled her
closer by encircling her waist with his arms. Then she stood on her
tiptoes and kissed him.
" Oh my God! He found them!" AU Gabriel exclaimed. " Connor!!!" he
yelled after his friend.
" What?" AU Connor rounded the building and now was aprroaching them.
" He found them!"
" Really?"
" She kissed Teal'c" Sam turned to him.
" Really?! Daniel, Cass! Janet!" Connor left them and ran in the
direction of the infirmary.
" You don't seem to be surprised, Major" AU Gabriel grinned at Sam.
" I'm indeed not" she grinned back and looked at the pair approaching
them.

Chapter Fourteen

" Where did you find them?" AU Gabriel asked AU Teal'c.
" On Earth. They are held at the former SGC."
" How dumb from Apophis!"
" We have to hurry, Gabriel" AU Anne said to her friend. " It's
already 1400 on Earth" she announced, after looking down on her
wrist. She had two watched on her left wrist and one on his right.
" We could help you" Sam offered their help.
" Yes" came Jack's agreement. He was still craddling the baby and
Daniel was still with him.
" No, thank you."
" But Anne..." Gabriel was surprised.
" No, and that's my last word on this issue, Gabriel."
" We could trick Apophis with them, Anne" Teal'c suggested.
Anne looked up at him, her eyes full of love and trust. Sam only
hoped that they don't want to kiss in front of Jack.
" Do you think?"
" Yes" Teal'c plainly said.
Cass arrived at this moment and she went to hug Teal'c.
" Rya'c is waiting for you."
" I am going to visit him soon. First we have to plan our operation."
" Do you think that we could really trick Apophis?"
" By using the twin effect?" Daniel asked. " I'm sure."
" We are willing to help, Anne" Sam said quietly.
" Okay. Gabriel, get prepared. Connor, get hold of both SG-6 and SG-
10 and we are taking SG-2, too."
" Major Warren is still at New Hope."
" Okay, then I'll take SG-2. Sam, Jack, please, stay here with Cassie
and Joanna. Daniel?"
" I'm staying here, too. I told Asa that I'll be here with Cass."
" Okay. Teal'c, you go to Rya'c, till that I'll contact General
Hammond."
" Do you think it's wise?" Jack asked her.
" Why?"
" He is right, Anne" AUGabriel agreed. "It's enough he knows when we
are back, safe and sound with Sam and Jack."
Anne looked at Teal'c and after his nod she sighed deeply.
" I hate to do this to him."
" Believe me, he knows that" Jack said, reassuringly.
" Then I'll tell Graham everything" she hurried away and the others
left them, too.

***************

" I don't know, Janet, maybe they are really..." Daniel turned to
Janet, who stepped into his office.
" Daniel, don't tell me you're giving them up! They are our friends!"
" I'm not giving them up, but I cannot find them anywhere!" he put
down the control device for the quantum mirror.
" Well, there are many possible realities. You should search on."
" Janet..."
" Are you tired?"
" No" he pulled himself together. Last thing he wanted to be sent
home by doctor's orders.
" Daniel, you don't look that well."
" I'm okay, I'm okay."
" Are you sure, you can say this enough times to believe?" she asked
him sarcastically.
" I'm sure" he smiled at her. " Please, Janet, don't send me home."
" I won't send you home. But tell me if you are feeling sick."
" I'm only nauseaous" he confessed.
" Do you want something to drink?"
" Limo would be good. I think."
" Okay, I was going to the mess hall anyway."
" Do you see any chance of a coffee for me?"
" Daniel, I know that you like coffee, but believe me, it would only
make things worse."
" I know" he deeply sighed.
" I'll be back soon."
" Okay" he nodded, already hovering above the mirror again.
Sam's rank was one of the clues he used to make out realities. Sam's
hairlength was another clue. Then her engagement ring. Another one
was Janet's hair and state. In some realities she was pregnant. When
he first saw a pregnant Janet his stomach did a somersault, and he
knew that it didn't have to do anything with his usual sickness. He
was only extremely jealous. He stared into the mirror and a pregnant
Janet just stepped into a pregnant Sam's lab. They smiled at each
other and sat down exhausted. Daniel could read their lips.
" Where is Jack?" Janet asked her friend, not noticing that someone
was observing them, although they were sitting face to face with the
mirror.
" He is off with Anne. Where is your husband?"
" With Rya'c."
Daniel suddenly had the feeling of been betrayed.
" Daniel?" Janet returned to his office.
He flipped again, but in the mirror another pregnant Janet appeared.
" Wow!" Janet let out a surprised exclamation.
" It's..." Daniel tried to explain.
" Have you already seen me pregnant, Daniel?" she asked him, after
seeing no surprise on his face.
" Yes" he confessed. " And I think, I know now who the father is."
" Really?" Janet asked, and she looked very embarrassed.
" Yes. It's Teal'c"
Janet laughed out relieved.
" Daniel, don't talk rubbish. It can't be Teal'c!"
" Why not?"
" Just because" Janet said briefly.
" Tell me!" he demanded.
" Believe me!" she demanded.
" Janet" he sighed tired.
" Okay, okay. Anne is in love with him."
" What?"
" You heard me well. And I think Teal'c is in love with her, too."
" He is married to Drey'auc."
" They are not married anymore. Drey'auc's marriage to Fro'tac made
their marriage annulated."
" Yes, but Teal'c told me that he...and Drey'auc...And that that means
that they are married again."
" I see. Was it before Anne's arrival?"
" Yes" Daniel nodded.
" I saw it in his eyes when she was injured after the meeting with AU
Apophis."
" Really?"
" Really" she nodded convinced.
" Okay" Daniel gave in. " But who is the father?" he casted a
searching look at her.
" Why don't you find this out alone? I have to go back to the
infirmary."

Chapter Fifteen

Sam looked at the little girl with curiosity. Cass came to sit with
her and Daniel took place next to Jack.
" Your Mom and Daniel are together in this reality, aren't they?"
" Sure they are. In yours?"
" Not yet. But Anne and you are working on that" Sam smiled down at
her.
" Are we good friends in your reality?"
" You are as close as sisters."
Cass smiled and then laid her head on Sam's shoulder.
" Do you mind?" she asked her politely.
" No, Cassie, it's okay."
" I miss you, I mean my Sam so much, that it really hurts sometimes."
" You have your mom and your sister."
" I love Mom and Asa, too, but they aren't my Sam."
" Asa is your sister?"
" Yes."
" And who is Joanna?"
Cass looked at her really amused, then she shook her head, giggling.
" Sam, sometimes I can't believe you have a degree in astrophysics.
What do you think, why is Jack so fond of that little girl? He
wouldn't craddle her with such enthusiasm, if she weren't his baby
girl."
" He would" Sam objected.
" I know he loves children, but he knows whose baby Joanna is. He saw
her smile and her eyes and he knew. She is his and yours, Sam."
" I..."
" Do you wanna hold her?"
" No. It's enough to see him with her. Don't tell him I know."
" I won't" Cass shook her head and went to Jack and Daniel.
" I'll go to Asa, Dad. Rya'c needs to be alone with Teal'c."
" Good" Daniel nodded and came to sit with Sam.
" Hi" he greeted her shyly.
" Hi" Sam smiled at her. They sat there in silence for a while, Sam
was observing Jack and Joanna, as he was talking to the baby. The
view caused physical pain in Sam's chest, but she wasn't able to tear
her gaze away. Daniel placed and arm around her shoulders and smiled
at her knowingly.
" Thank you for doing this for us" he then finally said.
" Not at all, Daniel. How old is Asa?"
" Around six."
" Is she your daughter?"
" We'd adopted her. Anne found her on Cimmeria after it was totally
destroyed."
" When this had happened?"
" Two months ago. It's a long story and I don't wanna bore ya with
it. It didn't happen to your reality."
" But it still could."
" Anne was on Chulak and she had to made an in-between stop on
Cimmeria. The destroyers just left, they had wiped out a whole
civilazation. She found Gairwyn and A
