Janet woke up to the feel of an arm carelessly thrown across her waist, curling around to pull her tightly against the person behind her.

Her first thought was coffee - she had the hangover from hell - and her second was who the hell was she in bed with?!

Trying to turn so as not to wake the person hugging her so possessively, she was painfully aware of the fact that she was, in fact, naked.

Looking down for anything to cover herself with, she noticed a sheet just barely covering their bottom halves, and started reaching down to pull it up. But even this careful, slow movement was enough to cause her partner to stir.

Shifting sleepily, he pulled her closer and murmured into her ear: "Love you..."

Janet stiffened, and decided that now was the time to move. *Definitely* time to move! Her careful moving had had some...consequences.

She pulled away from his body, ignoring his protests and quickly looked around for something to cover herself with until she could find her clothes.

"Morning…" A sleepy voice greeted her ears. Starting, she quickly grabbed the closest thing she could reach. The sheet on the bed.

She quickly wrapped as much around herself as she could without exposing her partner, then turned back to the bed.

"Daniel!" she gasped, blushing a bright red.

"Janet?" he asked, not quite awake yet. "Ahhh, my head!"

Groaning, he turned over - away from the light streaming in from the one window in the room, pulling the sheet away from Janet and forcing her to sit down on the edge of the bed to remain at least halfway decently covered.

"Argh…" he managed as he attempted to pull the sheet further up his body, not realising that Janet had it wrapped around her as well and he was in danger of being on the receiving end of a slap shortly if he kept pulling.

"Daniel!" Janet half yelled at him, yanking some of the sheet back over to her.

"What?" Daniel asked. Janet sighed. Sometimes he could be so thick.

"First of all, how the hell did we manage to end up in bed together?!" Janet asked. "That would be nice for a start, or perhaps you'd just like to steal the rest of the sheet, leaving me with nothing, and go back to sleep," she added sarcastically.

"Uh…" Danny said, making a real attempt to think. "Maybe after I have some coffee…" Janet just sighed exasperatedly.

"I'm going to find my clothes…I suggest you do the same, unless you really want to treat anyone outside of this room with an indecent view," Janet said acidly.

"But your clothes aren't in here…" Daniel said, not quite comprehending what she was about to do. "You'll be giving them just as indecent a view as I would…"

"Oh, I know," Janet replied with a smirk on her face. Reaching down, she gave a large yank and managed to get all of the sheet, and turn away at the same time so as not to embarrass Danny too much more.

"Hey!" he protested, and she could hear him squirming around a bit on the one cotton sheet left on the bed. "What am I supposed to wear?! I don't see my clothes in here anywhere!"

"Well, if I find them, I'll toss them in…if not, I'll toss the sheet back in when I manage to find my own clothes!" Janet retorted. She was having far too much fun being in charge, and wasn't about to let him have the upper hand yet.

Wrapping the sheet around her a bit tighter, she walked out the door, ignoring Danny's protests from the bed.

**********

Janet had quickly managed to find her clothes. Seeing them draped all over the living room as soon as she opened the door meant a quick find, but it also made her worried about what she and Danny had gotten up to last night. After she got dressed, she tossed Danny's clothes - also strewn all over the living room - back into the bedroom for him.

Then, deciding that thinking hurt *way* too much without coffee, she put a pot on, feeling kind of sorry for Danny since he seemed to be in as bad a state at she was. It wasn't really fair of her to yell at him when he was in such a delicate state…but it had made her feel a hell of a lot better, anyway.

She still didn't know exactly where she was, even after much thinking about it and looking out the window to try find some familiar landmarks. However, there were a lot of Egyptian things adorning the walls, and many statues with writings on them, so she assumed that she and Danny had somehow managed to get here since she was almost certain they hadn't started the evening here.

Sipping coffee, she wandered around his place. She had never been here before, and every girl who knew a thing or two about men knew that the contents of their home said a lot about them.

So what did she find out about Danny?

Well, he was a healthy eater, always a good sign for later in life.

He had a great love of ancient things, proven by the fact that she managed to crumble a little tiny not-quite-noticeable bit off of a painting when she gently fingered the edge, trying to figure out what it was made of.

He…oh who was she kidding. He was pretty much perfect all round. She sighed to herself, sipping more coffee and started thinking about last night.

By the time Danny came out, having decided to have a nice, cold shower, she was deep in thought, standing and staring out the window.

"Hello?" he asked with a slight grin, standing in front of her and waving his hands in front of her face. "Earth to Janet!"

"Coffee's on the bench," she said, turning away and going to curl up on one of Danny's couches. So many things were messed up now. This could, in a nutshell, completely ruin their friendship, and she didn't want that to happen. If she couldn't have him herself, she wanted to be his friend, even if he did have some other gorgeous woman she couldn't possibly match.

He looked at her oddly, then went over and poured himself some coffee. They sat, silently drinking their coffee together…trying to remember, and to get rid of their awful hangovers.

"Thanks, I needed that," Danny said as he got up and returned the mug to the kitchen, then returned to his seat on the couch opposite Janet. She just nodded, still lost in her thoughts.

"Do you remember?” he suddenly asked after fidgeting for a while with the ripped edge on the arm of the couch.

"No…" she said.

"Neither," he said, sighing. "Do you think we…" He made a sharp gesture, blushing all the while.

"I don't know…everything seems to indicate we did, but you never know…" Janet said with a bit of hope in her voice.

"Don't you women have some way of knowing this sort of stuff?" he asked.

"No, Daniel, we don't. If we did, there would be a lot less single mothers out there," Janet snapped, then immediately regretted it, but didn't apologise. Another silence, again broken by Daniel.

"Are you gonna be ok?"

"What do you think?!" she glared. "I've just had sex with a guy I happen to lo…like being friends with!"

"What's wrong with that?" Sometimes he asked the most inane questions, she thought, and it just made her more mad.

"Don't you see? Everything has changed now! Everything is screwed up because neither of us could say no to the drink last night!" she yelled, really angry for no real reason right now.

"Do you really believe that?" he asked quietly. She just turned away - getting up and returning to stare out the window again. He simply waited, watching her beautiful, lithe form outlined with the pale winter's sun.

"I don't know what to think right now," she sighed. "I have to go, can I use your phone to call a taxi?"

"'Course," he replied. "I could give you a ride home…"

"No!" she almost yelled, starting at his offer. "No, no, it's ok, I'll just catch a taxi."

"If you're sure…"

"I'm sure," she said, not sounding very positive about that.

"Ok," he said, then left her staring out the window as he went and called her a cab.

Deciding it wasn't a wise idea to go near her right now, he told her the cab would be outside in ten minutes, then poured himself another mug of coffee and stayed in the kitchen, watching her from there.

After 5 minutes had passed, she got up silently and headed for the door. Somehow he couldn't bring himself to stop her. To say he loved her. To tell her nothing had to change…he stayed drinking coffee, and wondering about what she had said.
