RATING: PG-13
SPOILERS: The ep where SG-1 found Danny...
SEASON/SEQUEL: Anything after Singularity (I *think* that's the ep they found Cassie...) Sequel: of course!
SUMMARY: Danny takes Janet out for the day
DISCLAIMER: I don't own any of them, I just want Danny and Janet to be happy together (but their relationship being canon would be a good start) and Sam and Jack should be happy too. Don't sue, 'cause I don't have anything worth taking but a really slow laptop
AUTHOR'S NOTES: *sigh* it's finally done! Thanks Bryn for the beta, Kat...I would have given it to you but I wanted it done ASAP and you weren't around!

Chocolate Dreams and Cinnamon Hearts

Janet stirred slightly in her sleep, lost in a blissful dream of Danny kissing her all over…

A slight shaking on her arm and the delightful smell of chocolate brought her back to reality, and it was a few minutes before she finally realised that it wasn’t Sam who had woken her, like she had thought.

It was Danny.

“Daniel!” His name escaped her lips as she immediately sat up and wrapped her sheets further around her. She had a sometimes-embarrassing habit of pushing the sheets down to the end of the bed as she slept, and last night she hadn’t exactly chosen her best pair of pjs to wear to bed. Instead she was wearing a pair of pink fluffy ones, with tiny bunnies on them. Cassie had given them to her for her birthday last year, and well…it was the thought that counted.

He grinned and something inside Janet quivered a little until she told it sternly to stop! “Nice pair of Pyjamas.”

She blushed a rather fetching shade of pink that matched the pjs. “Cassie gave them to me.” She looked up at him curiously. “How did you get in here? Cassie decided to go to a friend’s place last night…so she couldn’t have let you in.”

“Well, uh.” He blushed too. “I kinda talked Sam into letting me borrow her key for a while…”

Janet raised an eyebrow and resolved to talk to Sam later about giving her key to people, even if it *was* Danny. “So what are you doing here then?”

“I’m here to take you out for the day, to make up for declining your invite yesterday.” He grinned. “So get dressed and we’ll get going!”

Janet just stared at him. “But…”

Danny gave her his best puppy dog eyes, a look she had never been able to resist. “I’ve got chocolate…”

She immediately looked around and located the wonderful smell that had woken her up. “You’re trying to bribe me!” she exclaimed.

Danny just grinned. “Is it working?”

“Yes,” Janet mock-grumbled. “Now get out so I can get dressed.”

Danny kept on grinning and got up to leave. Apparently he didn’t know her and chocolate, since he grabbed the chocolate and starting taking it with him.

“Where do you think you’re going with that chocolate, Dr. Jackson?!” she asked in her best doctors voice – the one usually reserved for when Jack was stuck in the infirmary for an extended period of time and got bored.

He looked down at the chocolate before deciding not to comment, and handing the chocolate back.

Janet watched him leave before flopping back on the bed. OH MY GOD!!! Daniel Jackson…the most-sought after man in probably all of Colorado Springs, asked *me* on a date! Oh sure, it isn’t really a date…but what am I going to wear?!

She immediately got up off the bed and padded over to her closet.

No, no, no, she thought, chucking various items on her bed. Too formal, too casual, too…just not right.

She groaned. Where the hell was he taking her anyway?

Looking through her wardrobe once more, she finally decided on sand cargo pants and a pale blue tank top.

She grabbed a handful of bobby pins and pulled her hair up into a slightly messy bun.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she thought about adding a touch of make up but decided against it. Danny likes the all-natural look, right? He went for Sha’re after all…

Grabbing a white shirt off of her bed, she headed for the door.

**********

The day had been *great.* Danny had taken her to the movies to see “Angel Eyes,” then they had had lunch in a wonderful little French café down the road from the movie theater.

After that, they had picked Cassie up and Danny had taken them both to the fun fair that was in town for a few weeks.

He had won Janet a giant pink elephant in a shooting booth, which she was hugging now, and Cassie had won herself a huge blue bunny at the same booth. Janet wasn’t quite sure how Cassie had learnt how to shoot that well, or if it was just plain luck, and she didn’t particularly want to know.

They were on their way back to her place now, in Danny’s car since he had insisted on driving her himself.

Pulling in to her driveway, Danny grinned and asked them both: “So did you have a good time?”

“Yes!” Cassie immediately answered, grabbing her blue bunny from the seat beside her. “Mom? Keys?”

Janet dug into her purse, before coming up with a bundle of keys, which Cassie promptly grabbed and raced up to the door with.

“Hey Danny!” She yelled from the top of the steps. “Wanna come in for a coffee?”

Danny looked at Cassie, then back to Janet with a question on his face. “Sure, go ahead,” she replied.

He grinned, and turned the key in the ignition, before climbing out of the car and going around to her door to open it for her. “Ma’am!”

She giggled and blushed slightly, before allowing him to take her hand and help her out of the car.

He kept her hand in his on the way up the path, while Cassie unlocked the door and bounded into the house.

“I’ll make the coffee!” she shouted, before disappearing into the kitchen to do just that.

Janet looked over at Danny, who, it seemed, had only just realized he was still holding her hand, and had dropped it quickly.

“So…” he said slowly.

“Um…want to sit down? Cassie won’t be a while with the coffee…” Janet replied.

“Oh…sure,” he replied, and followed Janet as she lead the way to the living room.

They settled down, Janet on her favorite easy chair, and Danny on the couch, to the right of her. They remained in a companionable silence until Cassie came in with two cups of coffee on a tray. She placed it down on the coffee table, before grinning broadly at the both of them and running back out of the room.

“Teenagers, huh,” Janet remarked. “Always running around the place, in a hurry.”

“Yup, but we can’t really say we don’t do the same,” Daniel said with a grin, as he reached over to grab a coffee mug to pass to her.

Stopping suddenly, fingers extended towards a mug, he grinned. “Looks like someone’s trying to tell us something…”

Janet leaned over, to see what he was talking about, and grinned too at the love hearts Cassie had drawn with cinnamon on top of the milk foam.

“Teenage thing again, I guess.” She grinned and looked up at him.

Danny leaned forward almost imperceptibly, watching the emotions flickering through her eyes. Finally one settled and she found herself wishing he would go ahead and kiss her.

Just as he leaned forward, Cassie came racing back down the stairs. “Hey you guys…”

Daniel and Janet instantly pulled back and both blushed slightly.

“Oh…” Cassie grinned. “I’ll be going now! Have fun!” Cassie raced back up the stairs, with an enormous grin on her face.

Janet sighed, and turned to Danny. “Sorry…”

“It’s ok…I should probably go…before we do something we might regret…” he said hesitantly.

Janet nodded, and got up to take him to the door.

“Bye…” she said, wishing he wasn’t leaving. Though she had been hesitant to go out with him that morning, now she just wanted him to stay. But she knew that if he did, they would probably, no…definitely end up doing something they would both regret. That had happened in her relationship with her first husband, and she didn’t want it happening again.

He quickly leaned over and gave her a kiss, then grinned and walked off to his car while Janet stood there amazed. He…kissed me…

The sound of his car starting up and driving off made her start grinning. He kissed me! I want him to do it again!
