in the alternate universe. Further, the alternate
universe Earth has not been included yet in the

There is some small foreshadowing of the events of
“Forever in a day”
There is a mention of Jack’s fishing cabin, so this
could be a little spoiler for any episode mentioning
it, such as “Nemesis”.
Knowledge of quantum mirror as seen in “There but for
the Grace of God” and “Point of view” is needed.
There is a mention of the Tok’ra, of the Nox, of the
Asgard, and of the Tollan. Concerning the Tollan,

Alternate Universe
A hospital in Minnesota, USA
Eight months after Janet’s departure
Nobody had received news from Janet since the day she
had left the SGC. They had no way of finding her, not
without violating her right for a private life.
She seemed to be gone for real.
Daniel had not been himself since Janet’s
disappearance. He did his work very professionally,
but it didn’t have the same passion as before. Worried
about their friend, Jack, Teal’c and Sam had decided
to take Daniel to Jack’s fishing cabin in Minnesota.
However, Jack had a small accident during a walk in
the forest. He had slipped and hit his head really
hard. He had a concussion, therefore the others had
decided to bring the colonel to the hospital, to make
sure that everything was fine. That was why they were
at the hospital.
Jack was examined, and the doctors said he was not in
danger. However, the doctors decided to keep him under
observation for a couple of hours, just to be on the
safe side.
Teal’c stayed outside Jack’s hospital bedroom,
guarding his friend’s room. There was no reason to
guard the room, but Teal’c wanted to do it for
O’Neill. He felt better doing that rather than doing
nothing at all. Further, the Jaffa was moved by his
loyalty towards Jack. Inside the room, Sam didn’t
want to leave Jack either. Daniel left Sam and Jack,
to give them some privacy. When Daniel announced that
he was just going to take a walk, Teal’c asked Daniel
if he required his company. Daniel reassured the Jaffa
that he would be coming soon. There was no reason to
worry about him. Teal’c was relieved, since he didn’t
feel like leaving Jack’s room unguarded.
Daniel was walking towards the cafeteria to buy some
coffee when he noticed Cassie. She was sitting in a
waiting room, alone. Cassie saw Daniel, and ran to
great him.
”Daniel! You came! How did you know?” she said,
hugging him.
“Hi Cassie,” he said, extremely happy to see her. He
realized that if Cassie was there, then Janet must not
be far. Daniel took a look around, but there was no
sign of the doctor.
“Where is your mother?” he asked Cassandra, concerned
by Janet’s absence.
”You… you don’t know?!” exclaimed the girl.
“Know what?” Daniel was really puzzled.
Suddenly, a nurse came and talked to Daniel and
Cassie. “Congratulations, it is a boy. You can see
him at the nursery” said the nurse, leaving after her
announcement.
“Janet had a baby?” asked Daniel, astonished by this
revelation.
“Yes, and you’re the father… but don’t tell mom that I
told you or she’ll kill me!”
Daniel was too shocked to talk. ‘Did I hear that
right? Me, a father?’ he thought.
“Come,” said Cassandra taking Daniel’s hand before he
could escape. He followed her to the nursery. When
they arrived, Cassie asked to see the Frasier baby.
The nurse showed a baby whose crib said clearly
“Andrew Frasier”
Daniel was truly amazed by the baby. Everything else
was forgotten, except little Andrew.
“He is so cute!” said Cassie, smiling from ear to ear.
“He… he is wonderful!” said Daniel, pride coming to
him as he looked at his son.
He had been really touched by Sha’reh’s baby when he
had been born, but this was different. Andrew was of
Daniel’s blood.
Moments later, the nurse came and told them that they
could now see Janet.
Daniel was nervous at the idea of seeing Janet again,
especially after all that had happened. But, at the
same time, he was looking forward to seeing her. He
had not stopped thinking about her during these last
months. Janet’s absence made him realize how much she
meant to him. It wasn’t the same when another doctor
examined him after the missions. She wasn’t there
anymore to listen to him when Daniel needed someone to
talk to. He missed her presence dearly. And now, all
of the sudden, he was going to see her again. This
thought filled him with happiness.
Cassandra opened the door of her mother’s hospital
room. Janet was still weak from labor, but she seemed
fine otherwise.
“Hi, sweetie,” said Janet when she saw her daughter.
“Hi, mom. Look who I found!” she said taking Daniel’s
hand and forcing him to face Janet.
“Daniel!” Janet exclaimed, pleasantly surprised.
“Hi, Janet,” said Daniel with a nervous smile.
“What are you doing here? I mean, how did you know?”
asked Janet. She was curious, and obviously not mad at
seeing Daniel in the room.
“Yes, how come you were in this hospital, Daniel?”
asked Cassie, realizing that she didn’t know the
answer.
“ I didn’t know that you two were here until I saw
Cassie,” Daniel started explaining. “Teal’c, Sam, Jack
and I came to Minnesota for a weekend at Jack’s
fishing cabin. Jack fell and got a concussion during
a walk in the woods, so we had to rush him to this
hospital.”
“That’s similar to what happened to us. We were in
Minnesota for a small vacation, but Andrew decided to
arrive a bit sooner. So, here we are,” said Cassandra.
Daniel smiled realizing how lucky he was. If Andrew
had not decided to come to the world now, then Daniel
would never have found Janet and Cassie again.
It had to be fate.
“Wait a second! Teal’c, Sam and Jack are here? And is
Jack okay?” asked Janet unbelieving what she had
heard.
“Yes, they are here in this hospital. And yes, Jack is
fine. The doctors are keeping him for only a few hours
under observation, just in case. But they don’t
foresee a problem,” said Daniel, reassuring her.
“I’m glad to hear that Jack is fine,” said Janet.
“Mom, can I go to see them?” asked Cassie. She had
realized that Daniel and Janet needed to talk without
her presence.
“Sure sweetheart,” said Janet, then she turned to the
archeologist “Where are they, Daniel?”
Daniel explained to Cassie how to get to Jack’s room.
“I bet they’ll be surprised!” said Cassie.
“You bet,” agreed Daniel, laughing.
Cassie left to meet with Teal’c, Sam and Jack.
Jack’s hospital room
Sam was sitting in a chair besides Jack’s hospital
bed. Jack opened his eyes, awakening from his sleep.
Sam approached, and held his hand.
“How do you feel, Jack?” Her face was filled with
emotion as she thought that she could have lost him
for real.
“I feel better, Sam.”
“You scared me,” she said.
“Me?” said Jack, giving Sam his best innocent look.
Sam smiled. He always had a way to make her heart
melt.
“And how can I correct this?” asked Jack, mischievous.
“Like this,” she said, kissing him. He responded to
her kiss, feeling very alive now.
Teal’c opened the door at that moment. “Major Carter,
O’Neill! Look who is here!” he exclaimed as Cassie
entered the room.
“Hello! ” she exclaimed. “Oh, I’ll come back,” she
said as she realized that Teal’c and her had
interrupted Sam and Jack’s kiss.
Their embarrassment at having been caught kissing
changed to a deep surprise when Sam and Jack saw
Cassandra. Of course, they were wondering how come
that Cassandra was at this hospital. But they were
nonetheless very happy to see the girl.
“Cassie!” said Sam, hugging her.
“Hello, Sam! Hello, Jack.”
“Hi Cassie,” said Jack, trying to forget that she had
interrupted them.
Teal’c, Sam and Jack wanted to know everything about
what had happened to Janet and Cassie, and she
satisfied their curiosity.
Janet’s hospital room
“So, what have you been doing?” asked Daniel after
Cassie left the room to see Teal’c, Sam and Jack.
“Oh! I went to Virginia after leaving the SGC,”
answered Janet. “I found a job at a hospital. Well, I
almost didn’t get it. They said they had no open
position for a doctor when I went to see them. I think
they were worried about my pregnancy. I wasn’t showing
yet, but I had to tell them for health security
reasons.” Daniel nodded his head in understanding
before she continued. ”Anyway, there was a bus
accident later that day. So, they were in need of
medical personnel to deal with that emergency. They
called me back, and gave me a permanent job after
seeing my work,” she explained.
Daniel smiled. Knowing Janet’s professionalism, there
was no doubt that they had been eager to hire her, no
matter what.
The nurse arrived at that moment with little Andrew.
“Time for a meal,” said the nurse presenting the baby
to Janet, and made sure everything was fine before
leaving.
Daniel went to the door, about to leave so that Janet
could have some privacy, because she was going to
breast-feed Andrew.
“Daniel… You don’t have to leave if you don’t want
to,” said Janet.
Daniel turned, saw the baby and smiled. “He is
amazing, Janet” said Daniel with pride.
He approached the mother and baby. Andrew started
eating hungrily.
“He looks like you,” continued Daniel.
“And he looks like his father as well,” said Janet.
“Yes, he does,” said Daniel simply.
Janet understood that Cassie must have told him the
truth. At the beginning of her pregnancy, Janet had
not known what to tell Cassie about the baby’s father.
Finally, Janet had realized that her daughter
deserved to know the truth. Therefore, Janet had told
her daughter that Daniel was the father.
“Janet, why didn’t you tell me?” asked Daniel,
referring to the baby.
“I couldn’t, Daniel. I couldn’t let you take
responsibility for my mistake.”
“Is that what you call this?” said Daniel looking at
Andrew.
”Of course not! Along with Cassandra, he is the best
thing that ever happened me! My mistake was to take
advantage of you while you were mourning Sha’reh and
suffering from all that happened with her son!”
“No, Janet. It is me who took advantage of you! I
kissed you first,” said Daniel.
“I kissed you back!” replied Janet.
They laughed as they realized how silly this sounded.
It was a healing laughter for both of them.
“Janet,” said Daniel becoming serious again, “The last
eight months were really awful for me because I had no
idea of what had happened to you. I have to say that I
really missed you.”
“Daniel…you don’t have to say things like that if you
don’t mean them.”
“But I mean them! I did miss you,” exclaimed Daniel,
wanting her to believe him.
Janet felt Daniel’s sincerity, and was truly touched.
“I… missed you too,” admitted Janet. Indeed, she had
missed him. Leaving Daniel was the hardest thing she
had ever done. It had seemed like the right thing to
do at the time. Later, Janet had realized that she
really missed him, but she feared to return to the SGC
after all that had happened.
So, she had stayed away until fate brought Daniel back
to her life.
“So, what happens now?” asked Daniel.
“Well, I feel right now pretty silly about leaving the
SGC and not having this discussion before. I guess I
will be back to the SGC, if General Hammond allows
it,” said Janet.
“Great. And what about us?”
Baby Andrew had stopped eating and had fallen asleep.
Not knowing how to react to Daniel’s question, Janet
stood up and put the baby in his crib. “Us?” she said
as she covered her baby.
“Yes, Janet. We’re the parents of a beautiful boy. I
want to be part of his life,” said Daniel, caressing
the baby’s hand.
“And you will be part of his life as much as you
want,” confirmed Janet.
”And will WE play a part in each other’s life?” he
asked finally.
“If you want to,” said Janet with a shy smile.
”I want to,” said Daniel looking at her, his eyes
showing all his caring for her.
”Me too.” She approached him and, this time, she
kissed him first.
General Hammond was happy to hear that Janet was ready
to come back to the SGC. He had not really believed
that his resignation was a permanent one. So, he
gladly gave her back her Medical Chief position. Janet
left her position at the Virginia hospital as well,
therefore everything was ready for her return.
The news of Janet’s return and Andrew’s birth spread
quickly at the base. But the biggest gossip around the
base was that Doctor Daniel Jackson was the baby’s
father. Further, the doctor and the archeologist had
started dating, and were obviously falling deeply in
love every day. General Hammond, Teal’c, Sam and Jack
could not have been more happy for them. After all
they had been through, Daniel and Janet deserved
happiness.
Two and a half months after Andrew’s birth
It had been two weeks since Janet was back officially
at the SGC after her maternity leave, which had been
granted by the Air Force. She was at the infirmary
when the sirens turned on, and a voice started
shouting that there was an off-world wormhole
activation. Janet had finished for now what she had
to do at the infirmary, so she went to the control
room to see what was going on. General Hammond and
SG-1 were already there.
“We have a signal… It’s the Tok’ra,” announced the
technician.
“Open the Iris,” ordered General Hammond. He walked
towards the embarkation room, accompanied by SG-1 and
Janet.
When they arrived, the shimmering blue light of an
active wormhole welcomed them. Two Tok’ra came through
the Stargate, plus Jacob Carter, host to Selmak.
“General Hammond, please meet Leri host to Sham’uc and
Yevi host to Kel’rac,” said Selmak, introducing the
two other Tok’ra.
“Welcome to Earth,” said General Hammond. The Tok’ra
thanked him.
Selmak bent his head, switching to the host. “George,”
said Jacob Carter looking uneasy. “We bring bad news.”
“Do you people ever bring another kind of news?” said
Jack, with his usual sarcastic touch.
“Jack, I am not joking. This is serious,” replied
Jacob.
“Let’s go to the briefing room,” invited General
Hammond.
They arrived to the briefing room shortly after that,
and took their seats.
“Well, what is the bad news?” asked General Hammond.
“About a week ago, we found out that the Tok’ra
Ruiyac was in fact a Goa’uld spy,” explained Selmak.
“Oh, here we go! You guys just have the best security
in the universe,” said Jack, unable to stop himself.
Selmak did his best to ignore the colonel. “As soon
as this was discovered, we got word to our Tok’ra
operatives. We asked them to find out what the spy
could have told the Goa’uld. The news they brought us
is upsetting. We already knew that Apophis got really
mad when he learned that Amaunet’s son had escaped
him, thanks to Doctor Jackson. However, Apophis
learned from the Goa’uld spy that Doctor Jackson has
now a son of his own, Andrew Jackson Frasier. We have
good reasons to believe that Apophis will take his
vengeance by kidnapping Andrew and raising him to be
his future host.”
”No!” said Janet, face pale with shock.
Daniel didn’t look better. They held hands, trying to
find some comfort from that gesture. They would face
this together, no matter what would happen.
“Does that mean that Apophis is planning an attack on
Earth just to kidnap a single baby?” asked General,
who was shocked as well.
“That’s exactly what we mean, General Hammond,”
confirmed Selmak. He wasn’t happy about bringing this
news to the Tau’ri, but he had to. It was a very
important news, whose consequences could greatly
affect the future events.
“Do we have an idea of when this attack will take
place?” asked Jack.
“Most probably, Apophis will attack as soon as
possible,” answered Teal’c. The Tok’ra agreed with the
Jaffa.
“We have to do something!” exclaimed Janet, extremely
worried about all this.
“First of all, I think we need to put Andrew in a safe
place,” said Hammond.
“But where can we find a place sure enough?” asked
Sam.
An idea came to Daniel. “I know where… We send him to
a parallel universe using the quantum mirror we found
on P3R-223,” suggested Daniel.
“Perfect. Apophis will never find him there,” said
Janet, supporting Daniel’s idea.
“All right. Doctor Jackson and Doctor Frasier, you
make the necessary preparations and send Andrew to a
safe parallel universe as soon as possible. Meanwhile,
I’ll contact the President and Joint Chiefs to see
what we can do to prevent the Goa’uld attack…and how
we could fight it if necessary,” said the General.
“General, I want to ensure you that the Tok’ra are
ready to help you as much as we can,” said Selmak.
“Thank you. All right people, there is too much to do
and very little time. Dismissed.”
Area 51
Later that day, Janet and Daniel were at Area 51. They
had with them a small crib and inside it was Andrew.
Daniel had written a note which was going to accompany
the baby. They had decided that it was best to hide
that Janet was the baby’s mother, in case the note
came to wrong hands. If Apophis learned that Andrew
was Janet’s son and that the baby had escaped, then
Cassie could be in danger as well. Apophis’ vengeance
could move to the girl. It was a risk Daniel and Janet
didn’t want to take.
Daniel turned on the quantum mirror with the device
that commanded it. He started looking for a safe
parallel universe among those under-Goa’uld-attack
universes.
He finally found one that satisfied him. “I think
this is it,” he said.
“Are you sure?” asked Janet, taking her baby in her
arms. The baby was crying, as if he felt that
something was about to happen.
“Yes.”
Janet started singing a lullaby to the baby, calming
him down. Daniel approached and gently caressed the
baby’s cheek with his free hand. Neither of them felt
ready to let Andrew go. They were worried about the
possibility of never seeing Andrew again.
“We will see him again,” said Daniel trying to
reassure himself, looking for the strength to send his
son away. “There shouldn’t be a problem unless the
quantum mirror is turned off,” he continued.
“Not very reassuring,” remarked Janet.
Daniel looked at her and at Andrew. With Cassie, they
had become his family and he didn’t want to see this
family separated. But there was no other option.
A sergeant came in at this point. “General Hammond
asks if it is done,” he said, passing on the message.
Slowly, Janet put the note and the baby inside the
crib. Daniel hid the quantum mirror control device in
the pocket of his jacket. After that, he took the crib
with one hand, and Janet’s hand with his other hand.
Together, they stepped through the quantum mirror.
A couple of minutes later, Daniel and Janet were back
to their reality to prepare for a Goa’uld attack,
hoping that baby Andrew would be fine where they had
sent him.
