"I thought you'd want to know... That he's happy..."

He hesitates, unsure how to say what is so obvious by his omission. He knows I don't figure in the ascended scheme of things, that I've been left behind. Without my lover.

He's seen him, spoken to him, but I haven't. He never came to me on the nights grief kept me from sleep, or the days I fled to weep alone in my office.

Raw emotions twine their insidious fingers around my heart, tightening their grip with my realisation that I'm jealous of a man who's suffered torture beyond imagination.
